Royal Air Force 57 squadron from WWI and WWII

April 12, 1944
I know for Memorial Day we honor our own war dead…but sometimes we had help. We should honor them too.
I read that some of these guys in this picture died on the next mission. Went out, accomplished the mission objective, got shot to hell by a night fighter, and crashed into a row of houses on the way to an airfield. These guys played for keeps…triggered was a good thing then…shooting back at the enemy, not this pussified crying for a blankie and playdoh in a safe space we have today. WTF. You can read the mission report.

I don’t have any connection to these guys, but cool unit patch.

Lancaster Bomber I think, these were their radio codes, DX

WWI bomber FE2d.
Salute to brave men in times gone by. Today they are a flying tanker squadron.
