NBA White Knighting for Ghost Busters

The NBA has been running ads for the new Ghostbusters movie throughout the finals. What’s particularly notable/hilarious/troubling about this is that NBA players and other male celebrities take on the role of “Ghostbusters” during these ads, wearing the uniforms and sporting all the attire the female ghostbusters sport in the new movie. Best I can remember no females whatsoever are featured in these ads for a movie that stars four females. Good illustration of what a f~~~ing joke the fem-narrative of empowered wimminzZ is. That which wimminzZ can’t get done on their own will be done for them by men, while the narrative of women as empowered and superior to men is maintained and those who question the narrative are castrated.

I think I know which commercial you’re talking about, saw it several times on the TV when I was in Baltimore. It was relatively short and ended with a Ghostbusters logo and had a date below it?

Them supporting the new Ghostbusters is like going into a junkyard and hotwiring a smoking, destroyed wreck. In both cases, it’ll take a lot more effort than that to get this heap moving. Also in both cases, it’ll be better to just leave it in the tall grass and forget about it.

Maybe, but that sounds a lot like the way a commercial featuring the actual movie trailer might end, too. There’s two of them from what I gather. The first one to run featured Kobe Bryant, the second featured Porzingis, Carmelo Anthony, Clyde Frazier and Spike Lee. In each ad these guys were wearing the Ghostbusters suits and plugging the movie/doing ‘ghostbuster’ things. I can’t find anywhere online where they’re featured, otherwise I would link to them. Not sure I’ve ever seen anything like it…an ad for a movie in which all the main characters are played by people other than who they’re played by in the actual movie. This would be heavily lampooned in a normal society.

Haha, yeah. And the NBA also subsidizes the WNBA – no NBA, no WNBA. Can’t help but think some struggling D-League players could use at least a little bit of that cash. Or hell, at least invest it in a legitimate charitable venture. Like helping girls get an education in Muslim countries or something like that, if it has to involve women.

It was almost exactly like that. I never saw the entire thing, but the middle to end parts are right.
