I find it highly unlikely that the authorities would announce they had found it even if they did. But still makes me wonder what would happen if they did….

suddenly our small, pointless little lives will be looked at in the context of the fact that there is a whole Universe out there potentially teaming with life. Star Trek is a dumb communist fantasy (good show though) and a Babylon 5 future would be far more accurate…

in fact it makes sense – an alien race gives us the ability to travel the stars leading to Earth f~~~ing it up and nearly being wiped out. I won’t bother with the rest of the B5 story but it is the most likely outcome if we ever do travel the stars

Clickbait title. If you read the article it is talking about this satelite telescope thing they use to look at distant exoplanets thousands of lightyears away. Most likely the announcement will be about a planet they discovered.

Whatever they found, there is no way they could get a close enough look to see what is going on on the actual planet, and nothing smaller than a planet will even register. So unless they found some huge planet sized spaceship or something we can safely guess that they did not discover alien life.

Hey, I recently learned from Fraser Cain, that if the distortion of spacetime around our star Sol, can be used like a magnifying glass, like a natural telescope.

We’d basically have to put a sweet telescope way out far away, but still in our system, and point it at the side of the sun. It will give us a view of exo planets. Sriously, I drop my mouth when I learned about this. They need to do it ASAP, that would be so cool to see an Exo planet in a habitable zone as clearly as we see Mars.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter much anyway. Because of the vastness of space and because of the epic amounts of time…..interstellar travel is a joke. We will never come across other sentient life, period. Its out there for sure, certainly, it a statistical promise they’re out there. Its just that people don’t have a true appreciation of space and time.

FTL is impossible, period. All the other half assed, pot headed theories about interstellar travel are also bulls~~~. The only thing that could ever survive the trip from one star to another is a robot. I doubt that any bio-bomb (like a bunch of fertilized eggs in artificial wombs) could even survive deep space for the thousands of years it will take to traverse one measly star system. And even if they did get there and robots started raising human babies. Those babies would be wiped out by native disease in a week.

The whole thing is a skeptics picnic, a shooting gallery where we can neer run out of ways to put down the gullible suckers who watched too much Star Trek and Elon Musk…

The nearest star is 7 light years away if I’m not mistaken. There are about 12 stars within a 50 light year sphere around Sol. 25ly in each direction. Youll find some rather plain stars with no life around them in every direction. The thought of traversing space and finding ourselves out there is such a joke. Even the thought of coming across some alien tech, like a downed drone from another star, is so stupid. I wish we were that lucky, aint gonna happen….sorry.

The problem with alien life is that any life outside of earth is defined as it so even so much as microscopic life living in space is alien life.

If microscopic life is found on the moon then alien life exists because the life is outside of our planet.
