Out of the total range of emotional outlets every human has to deal with comes one that just don’t care about you!
It causes you to weep and suffer without having anything against you.
No matter how alpha male you believe you are.
No matter how stoic and self controlled.
no matter the toughness of your resolve to appear strong.
Sorrow is without malice or intent.

When I was a small child my grandmother told me of Sam McKinney
as he was a victim of cancer at 55. Died before my birth.
she said “Bob I only witnessed your grandfather crying two times
in my life. He was a selfless man who would help anyone he could.”
Union Grove Texas had no school sponsored baseball team because
there was not enough players to form a team. Your dad wanted to
play. Your grandfather Sam took it upon himself with no school help
to scour the country-side for enough young boys 11-13 age. He came up
with equipment Bats, b~~~~,gloves and everything needed.
He coached the team as well as driving the boys who lived way out in the stick back and forth to and from the practices and games..
They became a force and started winning. Coaches at the other schools
decided to keep them from playing in the post season all stars championships saying Union Grove was cheating by bringing in kids
that were not in the Union Grove school district.
Mam-Maw said “he came home in tears explaining they won’t let my boys play.”

This selfless man who took it on himself to create a team so
some young boys could have some fun was punished by other coaches
not for cheating but for succeeding against the odds.
They did not want to face that team.

She told me about the second and only other
    time she witnessed him cry.
they lived on an oil lease. no rent, but he had to service
    the wells and pumping stations.
He had a few cows and a dog named Babe.
Babe was his cow dog and friend for years
she followed him around the lease everyday.
She was getting old and laid down under his
pickup truck while he serviced a pump one day.
He did not see her when he finished
and backed over his own dog..

MEN CRY and sorrow cannot be defeated
When I think about this man I never met.
The life he lived as told to me by Mam-Maw
I understand where my father inherited his
    selfless spirit.

They both had short lives and the same curse
took them both (lung cancer) at the same age.
55 diagnosed and dead at 56..

This is why I have decided to give my life
back for I have lived 55 years.

Why should I expect any more time than these
    two wonderful men received?

No matter how tough and manly you are if
God wants you on your knees in tears he
will have you there, like it or not..

I cannot defeat sorrow and it means me no harm.
I do not wish to defeat Love for it is my friend.
Love for someone who is experiencing sorrow is Compassion.
Compassion is your friend and also
the product of Love and sorrow..

    These are the only emotions
    I allow to show..
    Three emotions One indifferent,
one friendly and one the product
    of the other two multiplied..

I experience all the others emotions
but enslave them to my private time..
They are not allowed to spill out on
other people, but must remain hidden
from detection. My stoic (poker face)

Ecclesiastes is the saddest book to me,
    but so true.

Ecclesiastes 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

The Bible says that Solomon was given unusual wisdom by God, and that he was the wisest man who has ever lived. With great privileges though come great responsibilities and added burdens. Someone who is smarter than the rest of us would see things that we don’t see, would foresee things we don’t foresee, and would live with a lot of thoughts and concerns that the average person never wrestles with.

I wish sometimes sorrow would just get bent and go away..
Yet I realize it means me no harm.
Defeating it is impossible for me.

If you defeat sorrow you are without a necessary ingredient
    needed to create compassion.

No authority should ever be given
    to someone with no compassion.

Men have feels, but we understand that
our feelings are not important to others.

Why show more emotion than necessary
    to get your point across?

Hate and anger are destructive and unfriendly
even if your anger is justified.

    when angered you will
    make the best speech
    you will ever regret..

    love and respect to all

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. Kind mockery at the well intentioned, but unfettered cruelty towards those would be prison guards of my creative possibilities. This so as to learn as much from misunderstanding as from understanding. Taking pleasure in worthy opponents and making language fluid and flowing like a river yet pointed and precise as a dagger. Contradicts the socialistic purpose of language and makes for a wonderful linguistic dance, A verbal martial art with constant parries that hone the weapon that is the two edged sword of my mouth.
