If you are looking to work and make a decent living in Australia forget it – it’s not happening. No one values you for being smart or honest or loyal. I know that’s true everywhere else but doubly so here.

My two cents and it worked for me – go over to Singapore or Bangkok and work there – they always need people and no one bothers you. You need to get away from here and do jobs that you really feel good about.

Taxes are LOW and you can live as cheaply as you want. Renting may be a tad high – but hey – it was worth it.

Save your money in a local bank DON’T SEND IT HOME in bulk -just some monthly if you are looking out for someone – as a ‘gift’. Claim non-residency in Australia. F~~~ the ATO – they are mangina c~~~-sucking ass-licking bastards.

Do not buy property now – wait until the property bubble bursts. You gave gold – great. You are smart. Store in a safe place and wait for the fireworks.

I was just going through some of my old documents today, doing a clean out and came across a birthday card I received last year from my old girlfriend.

Two weeks later we broke up because she slept with one of her university friends and regretted it.

I think i’m going to keep this card as a reminder that a women can love you so much and turn around two weeks later and stab you in the back. I’m not angry or bitter about this anymore, just trying to keep things real and learn from my mistakes.

It’s reassuring to know there’s some smart guys here in Australia. I had lost hope after running into your common guy that loves to get smashed on weekends, talks about sport and/or the value of his property, and brags about how many chicks he’s banged.

I’m waiting for the housing market to collapse. Although I’m not sure if this would happen given the filthy chinese money that is flooding into Australia and the ponzi scheme of new immigrants always wanting to buy houses – which just puts upward pressure on house values.

Agree on Sydney. I lived there 10-years. Great for my career, but that was it. Rent, driving, everything was expensive.

How did you get a visa to work in Singapore? Do you need a company to sponsor you?

Bro – Singapore lets people in by the boatload for work. First see if any Australian firms setting up in Singapore need you. Make sure you pay nothing to those bastards at the ATO.

ITP do my tax paperwork every year so any tax agency can tell you if the job is set up in Australia or a real overseas job. Make sure the job classifies you as a non-resident in Australia. Then you pay nothing to the ATO.

If you can’t find anything by local mobs you can hop on a plane and go over no visa required. You are allowed to look for jobs while you are there.
Once you have found one apply for a work visa or employment pass (depends on your type of work) and this is renewable.

There are some Singapore websites you can go to (eg http://sg.jobsdb.com/sg) or work hire agencies ( eg http://www.livinginsingapore.org/top-9-best-recruitment-agencies-in-singapore/) there specialising in foreigners. If you do the legwork you should find a job quick. Contact them from where you are and you will have an easier time.

I could not agree with you more about real estate. Though not every man is inclined to be a self-starter, myself included. I would recommend the OP look into a public sector job as an alternative to starting a business. This would allow him sufficient free time and a steady income to purchase and rent real estate. Doing repairs and renovations is easy and you don’t need to even go to that extent of quality. You can start by buying a small house, renting the basement as a self-contained unit, and getting roommates to live with you upstairs.

It seems like women flip a switch when they get into relationship mode. In my experience they seem to be able to reciprocate honor and common courtesy in normal settings but as soon as they have you in a relationship they get into control and extraction mode.
