for those of you that don’t know, I have a youtube channel called Red Pill Wisdom, which has 95% MGTOW related videos, and 5% interesting s~~~ that I want to share. link to channel

You’ll see it when it goes online. It will have a “subscribe” button directly to your channel as well — AND — it will automatically pull your youtube likes, views counts — AND — the video description directly into the site.

Wait for it. It’s killer.

Just out of curiosity KM, do you use plugins for this site? Or do you raw code it?

Depends on the feature.

The forums basic engine is a plugin. It looks like pure garbage out of the box. But we bitched and pimped it out and override everything. Right down to the framework. Even the +1 stars have a little animation when you click it. That was at least a hour’s work. It’s a stupid static “thumbs up” otherwise.

The youtube channels is NOT a plugin. Every line of code is raw and written to download video thumbnails from youtube , display the latest video by the author etc, but the scripts were hand written — line by line.

The “cards” everywhere for videos, posters, channels, books, audios, etc are also hand coded and we created the custom post types to display exactly as we want it. WordPress provides the functionality and content management, but otherwise everything is custom.

We use certain pre-written libraries and then literally go in and re-work them to do what we want with it. The styling, and appearance is all by yours truly.

The animations and trailers are all done in After Effects. Plugins are used to provide some visual effects, but that’s where it stops. I actually modeled the MGTOW logo in a 3D program with bevels and textures and lighting….. then you have to animated it and sync it with music or sound FX. A plugin doesn’t do that.

It’s like handing me a violin. I still have to know how to hold it, read music and play it. Otherwise it’s useless.

Then we add a skyline of New York with some movement…… blur it to give it depth of field . . . .and even add heat exhaust waves coming from the engines which is done in post production.

Thanks for the detailed description on how you have built this amazing website, KM. It can only get better from here. I see it as a work of art. Even when I work on my own website, as an amateur, every single detail counts. There is NO room for compromise.

I do too. It’s rare to have nobody standing over you creatively, so have fun with it!!

Have done many sites before, and usually there are limits to the creative fun you can have. It’s actually a shame, because the amount of internet suckage out there is an abomination. I take one look at Yahoo and my lunch starts repeating on me. I can’t look at it.
