New to a divorce situation or going to enter one?   Do what I DIDN’T do and protect yourself with a lawyer.   I wanted to ‘play nice’ when I got divorced many years ago (used a common mediator to handle things and guide us through the paperwork).   Now she is coming after me for more money many years later!   NOW I am going to get my own representation.  A MALE lawyer – not a FEMALE mediator.

No sir.  Not me.  I am in touch with a local lawyer though.  I have the sinking feeling I am about to get raped by:  1. The lawyer and then 2. The ex.

For my situation, having someone on MY side from the start would have been the right move.  I was foolish and it will cost me.

Thanks for the info on Tom L show.  I have heard only little on his show but he speaks to my heart, head and wallet.

When it was time for her to go, she was expecting me to beg her to stay.  Instead I plopped the papers in front of her and told her that all she had to do was sign and drop it by the courthouse on her way out.

The look on her face was priceless.  But if you can strike fast and get her to agree, it stops her from being influenced by friends, family and lawyers who will encourage her to nuke you.

That said, if it is obvious that it will be a contested divorce, lawyer up and try to file first.  Then watch her launch her full compliment of nuclear warheads and the mutually assured destruction.

Yes, your lawyer will put on a strap-on and bend you over, but at least he will smile and be your ally in the courthouse to prevent unilateral destruction.

Also hire a male lawyer in the field of expertise that is befitting of your particular case. It’s good to read the laws that may affect whatever you’re attempting. Make sure you comply with licensing and restrictions, just about everything is controlled by laws, and being ensnared can ruin your honest attempts at whatever.

Law under marriage is not FAIR to men, however it’s the law! The horror stories of marriage are published throughout this forum. Women have gained the ability to destroy by proxy, using the justice system to achieve a mad mutual destruction, and in this process, Women enrich the legal system and it’s associates! In other words, the judge should just hand her the gavel, and allow her to smash your head to pieces.
