A new report by the Population Reference Bureau found that many millennial women’s careers are stalled.
Unlike generations before them, millennial women are not experiencing an improvement in well-being, according to the report. They face persistent poverty, and although they are more likely to have college degrees, that isn’t translating to high-paying jobs. The report noted that the poverty rate rose 37 percent between Generation X and millennials, a statistic that surprised even researchers.
“When we started, frankly, we expected to see progress,” said Beth Jarosz, senior research associate with the bureau and co-author of the report. But entering adulthood during a serious and prolonged recession, she said, “clearly has had an effect on earnings and on poverty for a whole generation.” Although the report referenced national data, stats she pulled for the Tribune reflected similar trends in Chicago.
“We really are a microcosm of the world,” said Dorri McWhorter, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago’s chief executive officer. She said young women’s opportunities are not always translating to advancement.
Millennial women face unique challenges. Many graduated in a recession-weary job market. Often, Chicago women said, they accepted jobs with lower salaries than expected or were unable to find a job at all. Some moved back in with their parents or juggled multiple minimum-wage jobs. At the same time, they face high student debt.
Men, too, have dealt with effects of the recession and student debt after graduation. The reference bureau’s report does not compare women’s well-being to men’s, instead comparing millennial women only to women from earlier generations. But experts all noted that when millennial women enter the workforce, they encounter a stubborn wage gap and sexism.
“Women are so highly educated to do all these wonderful things, but nobody tells them what the tricks are in order to succeed at work,”

Usual feminist half truths meant to suggest that women have it worse due the “mancession”.
See strong points.

Millenial “women”?
I’ve only ever known millenial “girls”.No education.
No life experience.
No communication skills.

No relationship capacity.
No cultural enrichment.

Don’t forget that they’re out on their own now, and paying their own bills. So they can’t afford all the luxuries that they can when they’re sponging off of a spouse’s money.
Here is the issue. When a group of people are torn down, that tears down part of society.
Elevating part of society does not work the same way. One cannot give benefits to a group to elevate them. One has to raise the bar of knowledge, skills, and personal responsibility, while having that group reach that bar without cheating, to elevate that group and elevate society together.
Feminists and other progressives have not elevated themselves. Instead, they gave themselves opportunities and benefits without the knowledge, skills, and personal responsibility to go with those opportunities and benefits. At the same time, feminists and progressives tore down and denied opportunities and benefits to the people (white christian men and boys) whom were maintaining and would be maintaining much of society .
This tore down society further leaving everyone poorer in someway. If not financially poorer, than ethically poorer and socially poorer.

Anonymous3lol men have it much worse. So many previous articles touting how much better Millennial women are than men, and now we have a sob story for women, despite only laughing at men all this time.
If Millennial women think they’ll get bailed out by Millennial men, they have another thing coming. That isn’t going to happen, not after they ran their mouths for decades.
As stupid as most men appear, since only blue pill simps are allowed to speak and everyone else is silenced, men actually do notice and have long memories.

I am on board with this thinking. i have found ( prior to entering the MGTOW site ) that my best approach was to keep my own council. I watch, I listen, I remember. I can name 3 women who just walked out of their marriage, there being no fault divorce. no reason, just good-bye. one because another guy offered her a cruise. Who is REALLY responsible for the breakdown of the family unit? there is sanity here. F~~~ all them sick bitches who go through men like they go through shoes.
Would it happen to be due to poor choices on their behalf?
Naw, it must be because of men.
F~~~ them and their bulls~~~ victim-hood narrative. There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it
The wage gap is proof positive that women have a very very poor grasp of math. Seriously, this s~~~’s been debunked for years. F~~~, there is a youtube video from the 80’s that shows Thomas Sowell debating some frumpy c~~~ and debnking this wage gap s~~~. You cannot simply take the salaries of x men and x women, average them out and proclaim there is a wage gap.

Perhaps because …
(1) They are idiots who only got into university because of gender-quotas.
(2) The subjects that they selected don’t actually exist. They therefore have nothing to offer.
(3) They were rubber stamped through because they were female. Employers know that their ‘qualifications’ are worthless.

An improvement in well being, what does that mean. I am in my late forties, a gen x-er I believe and my quality of life and well being went down for the past decade. My well being may be improving now that I am single (well on the way anyhow-still separated). But unlike these millennials I’m starting where they are but in middle age.
But experts all noted that when millennial women enter the workforce, they encounter a stubborn wage gap and sexism.
And yet for almost three decades a woman’s first job out of university paid more than a man’s first job out of university. Apparently they aren’t able to maintain that advantage. I wonder why?

It’s called the “mancession” because it did hit men more than women…You said it Eric!
Everyday above ground is a good one. Everyday above ground while single...better still.
Too liberal, too feminist. Bunch of wannabe not it all losers.
Shit Tested, Cunt Approved.
They face persistent poverty, and although they are more likely to have college degrees, that isn’t translating to high-paying jobs.
I know I don’t hire any. Because I’ve learned the hard way (and the expensive way) that women’s degrees don’t translate to any actual useful skills.
Never again.

Marriage rate goes down. Poverty rate among women goes up. Coincidence?
But entering adulthood during a serious and prolonged recession, she said, “clearly has had an effect on earnings and on poverty for a whole generation.”
Isn’t it funny how our grandparents and great grandparents, who entered adulthood during a serious and prolonged DEPRESSION, didn’t have any such difficulties? It really make you wonder what we’re doing wrong now that we weren’t doing then. It is a mystery. /sarcasm
“We really are a microcosm of the world,” said Dorri McWhorter, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago’s chief executive officer.
Of course we are. Socialism fails in the third world, taking down nations. Socialism fails here, taking down this nation. Who would have guessed?
Millennial women face unique challenges.
lolno. If it’s women, and not a single woman, facing those challenges, then by definition those challenges are not unique. I’m guessing the editor who approved this article was female.
Chicago women said, they accepted jobs with lower salaries than expected
NOBODY starts out with the salary they want. And yet these women believe they should be an exception to that because vagina.
Men, too, have dealt with effects of the recession and student debt after graduation.
…but we’re not going to talk about them because only women matter. Who cares that this socialism spawned depression (calling it a recession is a lie) hit men, and especially millennial men, much harder than it did women? So much so that, as Eric Lauder points out, it’s called a “mancession”. What matters is that some women aren’t 100% happy at all times with everything everywhere, and that’s all men’s fault. /sarcasm
But experts all noted that when millennial women enter the workforce, they encounter a stubborn wage gap
Ah. There is is. The “wage gap” lie. And in the case of millenials it’s a very provable lie, because when actually comparing the exact same jobs instead of taking some giant, meaningless average, it turns out millenial women earn MORE than men.
The so-called “wage gap” is a merely statistical phenomenon. And women don’t “encounter” it.
Women create it.
and sexism.
Refusing to hire women is not sexist. It’s learning your lesson.
“Women are so highly educated to do all these wonderful things, but nobody tells them what the tricks are in order to succeed at work,”
Because it’s always someone else’s responsibility to make certain little princesses get every f~~~ing thing they want. It’s never on them to grow the f~~~ up and learn the tricks to succeed at work themselves.
Men aren’t told these tricks either. Men are expected to learn them the hard way. Why aren’t women? Because “equality”. /sarcasm
Notice how this article, and everyone quoted in it, are all women?
Alison Bowen is a selfish, entitled c~~~ who makes a living interviewing and quoting other selfish, entitled c~~~s.
Adding to the article Venom posted since I’m sure they don’t want us men to be viewing this and giving them male induced ad revenue.

Continued:“Women are so highly educated to do all these wonderful things, but nobody tells them what the tricks are in order to succeed at work,” said Andie Kramer, an attorney who mentors young women and co-author of “Breaking Through Bias: Communication Techniques for Women to Succeed at Work.”
When she graduated from law school five years ago, Bethany Whittles Harris, 32, like many of her peers, accepted a salary lower than what she might have received in a different economy.
“A lot of people felt like they didn’t have a great bargaining position,” she said.
Her experiences highlight the array of obstacles facing millennial women. Told as a girl she could do anything a boy could, she and friends were surprised to find persistent sexism at various workplaces. Harris and her colleagues have experienced everything from being pursued by bosses to being congratulated for their looks instead of their work.
“There’s still people behaving in these ways, there’s still this wage gap, and realizing that was a rude awakening,” said Harris, who now works at a firm where she hasn’t encountered any of these issues. “There’s still so much to navigate through as a woman professional that men just don’t have to.”
Sexism, too, affects her earning potential, she said. “If you really valued me as a lawyer, as an equal, as an intellectual, as an advocate of our clients, then you wouldn’t be subjecting me to this behavior.”
Women are severely underrepresented in high-paying jobs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Minority women are particularly underrepresented among STEM workers — in 2015, African-American women made up 7 percent of the population of ages 25 to 34, but just 2 percent of high-earning STEM workers. Latinas were 10 percent of that population but just 2 percent of those high earners.
The dour data don’t surprise millennial Sarah Labadie, a senior policy associate at Women Employed. Labadie, 33, said friends of hers struggled to find decent-paying jobs in their fields after college.
Like Labadie, who began work at the nonprofit after graduating in 2006, the report notes female millennials might pursue “do-gooder” jobs — careers that make a difference. Those jobs rarely carry salaries that afford a skyline view from a downtown apartment.
Labadie adds that the gig economy — the prevalence of patchwork jobs with companies like Uber — contributes to lower earnings.
And debt just compounds the problem. According to the American Association of University Women, women hold nearly two-thirds of the outstanding student debt in the U.S.
“That kind of spirals out of control into more women living in poverty because they’re trying to juggle rent, student debt payments, all the costs of living,” she said.
This stew of hurdles sounds familiar to Foram Sheth, 27, co-founder of Chicago-based Ama La Vida, a coaching company where she helps millennials who feel stuck.
Women have more opportunities than ever before, she noted. But pursuing degrees can equate to loan debt, and marrying later means building a life on a single income.
“There’s these consequences that have never been faced before,” she said.
Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer works with young Chicago women through programs like her Off the Sidelines, which connects and supports girls and women. Millennial women face stubborn obstacles, she said, but they are also forging their own definitions of a fulfilling, balanced life.
“The question is, are they worse off, or do they have a different definition of success?” she said.
The reference bureau report suggests women need social and societal structures to excel. Here, too, is where McWhorter agrees. The YWCA counsels young women on skills like negotiation. It also started a Not That Complicated project pushing for pay equality.
As a member of the YWCA’s Future Leaders Council, those resources, and working her way up and learning from each new role, helped land Winfrey her job at accounting firm Grant Thornton. She assists in recruiting a diverse workforce, including women and minorities.
Like many millennials, she juggles jobs and goals. After work, she maintains a lifestyle blog, and she harbors hopes of becoming a motivational speaker.
“As a millennial, I’m all about, make your own path,” she said.
Get used to it ladies; it’s every person for themselves. Made bed, lie in it.
Strong groupings of allied people fare much better than individuals – we had that and it was called the nuclear family unit. Yet, women have been told they must have it all; career, kids, husband, chad, the carousel. No sense of responsibility. They will dump a marriage to have a fun week on a cruise with Chad – as stated prior. This is very common. Even blue pill guys are starting to wake up.
Socialism only works in theory. It assumes everyone works as hard as possible, to the best of their ability. Human nature kicks in. Most people are happy with the bare minimum, with no effort, for free. This is even more true when you have a useless degree in women’s studies, or social science – working 40hr/week at minimum wage when you can get the same lifestyle for claiming disability and having kids with daddy government as the underwriter.
Feminism’s biggest failure was to forget basic biomechanics. Men have surplus labour they “sell” to a spouse for her reproductive capabilities; this was known as a social contract. Yet by voiding that contract and forcing women to compete on a equal playing field to men, they are at an inherent disadvantage because they cannot work as long or as hard.
In steps the government to force business to change work practices and hire more women. Business incur a greater overhead due to lost productivity and either go under or move to another country. The government also tries to subsidize women’s decreased productivity through taxation and money redistribution schemes; men counter by under employing and decreasing their surplus labour to a subsistence level.
Long story short; the house of cards is coming down!
- Marriage is described as an institution. You would have to be crazy to be commited to it. -"If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal. Not people or things" Albert Einstein
While a weaker economy is a minor reason, the primary reason for Millennial women’s failures is delusional thinking. The inability of women to recognize and accept reality is the problem here and that is true of more than just Millennial women.
For example, while women are attending college and earning degrees at greater rates than men, their degrees are far more likely to be economically useless. Those useless college degrees naturally fail to result in higher levels of pay and women are left trying to service higher levels of debt at middling or low pay scales.
Delusional thinking then further compounds the problem through women’s mindless consumer spending. Already saddled with student loans they can barely service, women can rarely adjust their desires to meet their means. That’s where men pick up the slack. Dating is prostitution and women use dating to subsidize their lifestyles.
When more and more men turn away from dating, more and more women find themselves trying to live beyond their means.
Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.
No jobs huh?
And yet STEM organisations are forced to employ smart highly skilled foreigners to fill the many available positions.
What, there are no jobs for top graduates from women’s studies programs, well I’ll be jiggered. Who’d a thunk it.

Anonymous3They have courses in Harry Potter & degrees in Feminist & minority Literature. WTF. How can you even expect to b marketable?
Only jobs in those fields are growing the size of the departments that teach them.
Serious, there has never been a better time to get a great career for young people if they do the hard subjects…..but nope, enrol in film & media or women’s studies instead while the poverty kids and their self-sacrificing parents in third world countries study their asses off and get the actual real jobs.
