In your view, how much money does a single MGTOW need to live, financial worry free?

I don’t mean monthly, I mean completely. I’ve heard $2 million is about right. What are your views?

Depends on how you want to live your life, you could be a king in the philippines with 100k or homeless in Canada. I personally would want 500k to 1 mill to live off of as that amount invested in Dividend paying stocks does pay well enough.

Knowledge is power..... Don't waste your brain on bullshit

I’m Canadian and your typical house here that back in the day would have been 200k 20 years ago is now close to a mill in value. A million dollars at least to secure a decent piece of property and monthly payments, and then another million for medical, entertainment, travel, food, other bills and utilities.

But you can retire at any point once you set up multiple streams of income that give more money than you spend monthly. So own property, a business that is managed without you and you’re set. This is actually very attainable in 4-10 years. Rent out the property and travel the world until the house is paid off, acquire additional property in other countries if possible. Then keep or cash in on your house.

A mgtow doesn’t need to make a lot to be comfortable, the main thing is not to waste your money on depreciating assets (especially when you’re young).
If you think about it if you buy a new car on credit when your young it’s probably putting you back 3-5 years financially.
I think about what would be the minimum wage I could live comfortably on and aim for that in the form of dividends and rental return. Once I get to that point (including a paid off home I live in) I’ll be aiming to only work a few days a week.

Stealthy I laughed after reading your post as I just got back from a clients where I put two lines of code in a clients database to export a report as a pdf into a dropbox folder from their access database. 15 minutes work and the client can now view his critical status report on his phone rather than going into the office after hours as he doesn’t have remote access from home. I’ve never seen someone so happy, sometimes this IT stuff can be rewarding:)

It depends entirely on the lifestyle you want to live. The way I look at it, I can put a chunk of cash into a diversified portfolio of dividend paying stocks and earn about 4% a year in dividends. Ideally I’d never sell shares to cover living expenses, and dividends would creep up over time so my passive income didn’t get eroded by inflation.

So…let’s just say your monthly budget is 2,000 a month. You’d need 24k a year…which would require 600k invested. Of course I’d recommend some money out of the market…at least enough to cover expenses for 6-12 months so if the market had a down turn you’d have a cushion for a while, and I’d recommend an extra couple hundred thousand just for a buffer and for money to continue to reinvest if you retire super young…don’t want to risk running your savings down before you make it past your 50s.

You also have other factors to consider, like healthcare, but realistically how much you need depends on you. You could move to some Asian or South American countries and live pretty good on 1,000 USD a month, or you could live in an expensive state with expensive hobbies and need 8,000 USD a month…so realistically just asking for a “how much do you need” answer isn’t going to have a one size fits all answer. 2 million would end up being massive overkill for some and not enough for others.
