Umm, no. Duplicate implies that I duplicated someone else work. Nope, though they might have duplicated mine, or it is a video on a different subject, or commentary on a different article maybe. Can’t view it. The link isn’t showing up for me, and I don’t see this post on youtube. Might I ask where this video is posted, and when it was posted?

I just did a search for my video title, and found the post you were talking about. It is my video. Seems someone named phoenix god posted a link to it. I guess he liked it. This is unusual?

What, did you think showing that my work is relatively well known, except to you, would be some kind of “aha” moment, like you were exposing me for something, but you know not what? Good lord.

I just joined and I’ve had tons of hostility, and paranoia thrown at me for reasons I cannot fathom. Seems you all are on the lookout for some kind of infiltrators or something.

We’ve dozens of video links posted here every day. Almost all of them are posted by people other than the creators.

Keymaster asked for help in identifying duplicate threads a couple of months ago. Everyone here can tell you I regularly help him by pointing out duplicate threads. I did the same with another duplicate thread just yesterday and do so several times a week.

I identified this thread as a duplicate because it was a duplicate and not because of who posted it. No one is out to get you and no one is has you in their cross hairs because, quite frankly, you’re not that important.

We have more traffic here so the threads flow by much faster so duplicates are now more common.

I’d definitely recommend looking back a few days whenever posting links to anything mainstream. It does fork the discussion and is a problem on forums.

I post off the wall topics so I’ve never done a duplicate, yet, I think.

@op: It’s not a huge deal. We’re growing rapidly, and the duplicates are just a symptom of that. They are much more common than they used to be. We also grill new members more aggressively too so please don’t take that as an affront. We’re a great community.

If you simply put up a different vid of yours that nobody else has posted all is cool. Just remember:

1: There are rules. Read them, heed them.
2: In the case of duplicates, it means a thread that is the same subject, usually with the same link to the same video/news story/etc in the first post. In this case, it was even the same name. Nobody is trying to call you wrong or bad, in this case he’s just saying that it was already here. Hope this helps.
