Afternoon all, bit of a random tangent but bear with me!

Earlier today I went to the dentist and basically, within six months since my last check up, I was told I need FOUR f~~~ing fillings. After being quite disgruntled at this fact (as I have a fairly low sugar diet) I was given the bill…£360! Absolute extortion!

So I then asked if there was a cheaper option and the receptionist said I could have Amalgam fillings – half the price but…*drumroll* the main drawback is that they LOOK more unsightly than pretty “teeth coloured ones.”

I laughed and asked why they didn’t offer that in the first bill. She said it was because “lot’s of people your age, especially ladies, prefer it for vanity reasons.”

Firstly, I was annoyed at how vain the apparent young persons demograph is (I am 32) and secondly, being quite tall (6ft 2), who the f~~~ is going to see fillings at the back of my mouth without a proper examination. I took the bill and walked back to my office (self employed-WINNING!) and I will be honest – I was furious.

But then a wave of peace came over me. Okay, I thought, so £180 is quite a lot for someone to put some metal in my mouth, but then if that stops the teeth getting worse and end up with root canals and even more expensive processes, that’s not a terrible thing. I also thought to myself – how lucky am I to be in a fortunate position where I can PUT MYSELF FIRST for my own health and well being and not have some c~~~y woman nagging me or insisting I spend my money on s~~~.

The soothing effect of MGTOW philosophy – putting myself first before relationships.

Haha, I did say to her maybe it would be better to let the teeth just fall out then I wouldn’t have to worry about it!

Her face – she went very serious and said I shouldn’t joke about that.

I dislocated my little toe a few years ago. I reflexively reset it myself. My niece did the same thing too herself and went to the emergency room and got ass reamed.

I can’t see doing my own root canals so I paid for that.

I’m self-employed too and have to suffer under the fascist farce we call Obamacare. I avoid the medical system like the plague.

I had to help my female dentist pull a wisdom tooth out! Other than that she’s good, tiny little hands to work in tiny little places, plus on my first appointment she stepped in and warrantied a failed crown from her predecessor, she absorbed all the costs, and I gave her a bunch of good advice in searching for and buying a decent home. When someone treats me good I have no reason to leave…

You think that’s bad, I have second crown that needs to put back @750 out of pocket with insurance. Plus a filling, cost difference for asthetics was 75 vs 125.

Side note : you can now go in, get your mouth 3d scanned, have the dentist design a tooth, have it cut from a blank, colored and installed in under 2 hours. First crown I got 15 years ago was 3 month multiple visit process. Yea tech.

I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes...or should I?

Amalgam contains mercury, that is poisonous. I’d never want that s~~~ in my mouth, better to cut spending on something else…

I cannot tell about my medical bills. In my country, medical insurance is mandatory for every employee, and paid by the state for other people, and it is part of the tax system. I prefer to pay regularly than to expect big bills at random time. (Our healthcare is very far from perfect -even if medical university education is very good and famous-, medicals emigrate due low salaries, and the remaining ones overwork to keep people living, but no one left on the roadside to just die if he /she has no money for medical bills.)

I thought that too, but then amalgam has been used by dentist for 100+ years or something like that by millions of people in that time. Also, mercury traces are everywhere – the air we breath, fish etc.

So, yes there is mercury present but could be worse – you could be killed by some wanky wife / woman and have your lifes work taken from you dead corpse!

Dentists (and not only those) always are going to sell you the more expensive solution. I went through a complete amalgam removal years ago and don´t regret it (suffering from an IBD).
Have gotten two crowns made, same thing, I asked for gold ones but, the dentist (female) started lamenting around, bla bla (won´t work and so on), ok we agreed on ceramic ones with a gold inlay (more expensive of course). Will need one more, so next time I go there I will insist on gold (if it is still cheaper) and if she starts lamenting around again, I´m going to tell her that I will be going somewhere else (been with her for 16 years now).
