I disagree…because economics. You’re running a business. Because 70% of spending is done by women, you need to appeal to women much more than you need to appeal to men. Chances are, a couple is going to therapy because she wants to. The therapy will continue as long as she is getting what she wants from the therapy. The second you take a man’s side, the therapy stops and the money stops coming in. Economics.

I get that you aren’t necessarily talking about couple’s therapy, but the economics of it still wins. You aren’t going to get government grant money by studying men’s issues. That won’t win any elections for politicians. Maybe there is a niche market for men looking for therapy who have no concern for how women are going to view the results of therapy…but I’d argue those men are least like to want/need therapy. They have it mostly figured out.

Maybe you can provide therapy to women by helping them understand men and how to treat them better? I don’t see that going over very well.

Thanks for your reply narwhal. I am actually doing this study to support couples in psychotherapy and you are correct. Most men come for therapy because of the female partner. However, many also stay because they find something for themselves in sessions and I have continued to work with men on their own after they were brought by their female partner. However, you have a strong point. Women are more keen to come for therapy and get to talk about the stuff that upset them and once again, men in my view were not looking after themselves by getting things off their chest, unless of course they are able to express themselves on MGTOW. Your response made me more aware that actually more have to be done so that women understood men better.

Men understand women. There is no understanding gap. We are groomed from childhood to know what issues women face and what they’re sensitive to. However, there is an absolute chasm of an empathy gap between women and men, as women are encouraged to focus completely on themselves and their entitlements.

It isn’t the men who need the therapy and counseling.

Good luck with that. My ex wanted couples counseling. I was fine with that and we went. Once we started talking about issues, it became very clear that I had a logical response for everything that we talked about. Not just logical, but caring. She was misreading almost everything I was doing.

Later that evening after the session, she told me that we were fine and didn’t need to continue to go. Within six months she was f~~~ing some other dude and wanted a divorce.

She didn’t go to the counselor because she wanted to fix the marriage. She wanted to go to punish me. For someone else to tell me how wrong I was and what an asshole I was. But the therapist didn’t side with her, she sided with the truth. So we never went back. She didn’t get the vindication she was seeking. It was never about US, it was about her being right. And as soon as she wasn’t right, she was done.

Same thing happened with mediation. One meeting. As soon as the mediator started explaining things to me and I got it, she wouldn’t go any more. She wanted a mediator to let her tell her sob story and then punish me by giving her everything I made. When the mediator started being fair, she was done. That’s when she threatened to commit perjury to get her “fair share”.

Seriously, good luck with your studies. You’re going to need it. Because women don’t want to understand men, they just want to sponge off of them. They just want someone to pull the plow for them. Women make 40% of the money in the US and are responsible for 80% of consumption. Let that one sink in and tell me that women give two s~~~s about understanding men. I’d say they understand how to extract resources from men very well. And that’s where their caring ends.

But hey, not ALL women are like that right?
