My guess: she was waiting and hoping for something like this latest, so she could bow out again, like she had to go to the ladies room last time. I doubt there were death threats. Her statements and actions are more damaging for her side. She likely faked the death threats to attempt to manufacture an artificial high ground in pulling out of those events.
