Massive Work Proposal

So, I’ve got two massive IT proposals that are going to drop before May. I’m basically the “whale hunter” in my company. I’ve got like $800m in proposals out in the world right now and am positioned to win most of them. It is a very stressful life at times, but the upside is there.

How do I win these? I build a team of experts. Male experts, I should say. While I do have a female who is on the pricing review team, it is mostly men. We work very late, joke around, hassle each other, etc. If I need to come down on someone, no feelings are really hurt. I just do it privately. If someone really needs the hammer, I do it publicly. Communication is pretty damned honest. I can only really do this on a male team. Interestingly, the guys who I need to counsel are usually consumed with home-life stuff (read: wife). Otherwise, we’d just be a money-making machine.

I came to sales as a BD guy. The short-term stuff sucks. I’m a more strategic thinker. If I can get some of these won, I can take the pressure off. Sound familiar?

Yeah I’ve worked on larger longer term projects as well. Always good to have a few smaller quick wins as well.
