I’ve always loved wearing my hair long and women used to love it as well. Now I really don’t give a s~~~ what I look like and I mostly keep my hair short. Easier and faster to wash and I might rub a little gel in it to spike it up sometimes. No need for a comb or brush anymore.

Cut my own hair as well. Bought some cheap clippers at Walmart and stand out in my back yard and run it all over my head till it no longer cuts the hair. Simple.
