Magician with no audience …

So, in the past years, I’ve probably spent hundreds of hours on new illusions .. magic vanish effects, silk production cabinets and all kinds of new tricks. My latest acquisition is a double split cabinet for vanishing objects including stage size dice. I ordered this from Europe, painted in black with oriental designs, and it’s probably my favorite .. to date.
Here’s the catch. After having performance magic as a hobby for the past decade, I have no audience; and most likely never will. Does this bother me .. only to the point where my boxes, cabinets, silks that are printed with the images of large playing cards will never be seen by anyone. I do feel sorry for the props .. not me.
I’ll continue magic as a hobby, one of several I really enjoy. I will perfect my illusions so they are crisp and clean. I will strive to become ever better at card handling, especially using the Svengali deck and forcing a card. If you mix and cut the deck to your heart’s content .. I usually still know which card you pick. It’s all for fun.
Don’t cry for me, no way and no how, I’m not “The Lonely Magician.” Performance magic is a skill to work on whether there is an audience or not .. makes no difference to me. Some guys record and post their illusions on the net .. I don’t see myself going down that road.
Someday, I’ll attend a convention, maybe several, and meet others who have similar interest.

If I see you there .. and if I ask you to pick a card, any card .. you might see that I’ve been practicing.

I was thinking that this was going to be some allegory that women are some how master illusionists, magically duping men for all time, and that by going MGTOW, we were depriving women of an audience to dazzle with bulls~~~.

We know their tricks, and are not fooled.

I was not expecting that you brother, were the illusionist. forgive me for jumping to a conclusion.

I learned a few sleight of hand tricks, and used to do them in my classroom for my students. It used to really p~~~ a few of them off, getting shown up by some little trick. Palming dry erase markers was always a big hit.

1. They give you the illusion that they’re perfect.
2. They give you the illusion there is ONLY you.
3. They’re amazing at making money vanish.

Sounds like you are very skilled at it…you ever think about doing street performances? Would be a cool side hustle, make some extra money by doing something you love, and blowing peoples minds. Also, you might meet interesting people.

You could play at a childrens school..not the teens but those aged 5-7 I think where they are still very inquisitive and not yet bastards….Or perhaps those kids in the hospital..It is always a delight to see kids crack up in laughter and awe because it reminds me of my childhood when the simple things just is enough and magic is a treat…
