I grew up speaking mostly French, some English. I started real school in Junior High. Stupidly enough, any non English speakers were dumped in the Spanish ESL program. Yeah, makes perfect sense. French speaking kid in a class full of Mexicans. Not good. Cinco de Mayo anyone?

ok so some of these kids started talking about getting laide. That was the real mark of a man was finding a girl and getting laide. I really did not understand why this was important to these guys. Why would I want to get laide?

Laide in French means “ugly” These guys wanted to get ugly? Really?

So today, one could characterize relations between men and women as ugly. Who knew I had this knowledge way back in 1983?
