Man armed with AR-15 stops attack by neighbor in Oswego

Today I asked myself the question, “Should we ban the internet because a few kids committed suicide because of it?”

    I wonder what a woman would say……

Here is some truth as I remember it. If I get s~~~ wrong please chime in.

In the late 80s early 90s there was a round called the “Black Talon”.
There were several rounds that had bullets that had the same characteristic, some with equally provocative names some without.

In a nutshell they not only mushroomed out but they did so in a manor to have sharp ‘teeth’ to help penetration.

Aaaaaaaaand the ones with ‘scary’ names were dubbed ‘cop killers’ because they could penetrate Kevlar and the ones with benign names were ignored. The ones with scary names and the ones without did THE SAME F~~~ING THING.

The left and the media had their collective panties in a bunch over the scary named ones but ignored the ones with names like something-dot.

Today the same bullets exist in commercially purchased rounds but nobody is losing their s~~~, b/c of a name change.

Lefties don’t know what the f~~~ they are talking about when it comes to firearms and are best ignored.

The black talons were teflon coated, I think. The rounds nowadays with the same bullets aren’t coated.

The black bullets looked meaner LOL. Just like having a pistol grip on a rifle. It’s insanity LOL.

Don't chase tail. Turn yours around, walk away, and live free!

Everyone around here ‘where I live” has guns. We hunt, we target shoot, we shoot skeet, trap .. we have excellent hunter safety classes. But, we mostly all have firearms. We have guns, we have crossbows .. long guns, short guns .. compound bows .. and we have a fully designated bl@k pwd#r hunting season, as well. Muskets. Flints.

The one thing we don’t have is much crime. I don’t lock my house even when I’m gone overnight. Neither do my neighbors. This evening I sat out on my deck and off in the distance I could hear some guys target shooting at our local Sportsman’s Club. It was faint .. but I could hear every shot fired .. about four miles away.

Did I mention we have no crime? ‘as far as theft’ .. I can’t remember hearing about any burglaries in recent memory .. none .. and I’ve lived around here for over twenty years.

We have no crime .. I wonder why? .. not really. We all know why .. at least of all those folks who are my neighbors. I have absolutely great neighbors .. many are Amish .. we support each other. We have a good life. We all get along just fine. I can’t imagine it any other way. We help and respect each other. It’s all good.

There are two treacherous highway hills near my place with 12 degree grade .. I guess I keep the doors unlocked when I’m away mainly for anyone who might have had trouble or even an accident and finds themselves at the end of the half mile town road. Cell reception can be spotty around here. Sometimes, the Amish also need to make an emergency phone call.

It’s happened several times before .. the car is in the ditch .. and when they are in need of momentary shelter, or need to use a reliable phone .. during a major snow event, even if I’m not home ..my house is your house. A small sign on the window pane of the back door says as much. Make yourself at home .. sit down and find something in the kitchen. All weary stranded folks are welcome. My neighbors would agree. I hope they would do the same for me.

Ah, smart distinction. TY for the correction.

Still, I think, a modern PPR will cut through Kevlar, maybe not.
I *think* a broad-head from even a moderately powered bow will slice right through Kevlar.

Still the point remains the same, scary sounding gets panties in a bunch, benign sounding gets ignored.

Yes black talons are coated—they are designed to “mushroom” like any hollow point but the coating allows for greater penetration before they “mushroom” Bullets do their greatest damage with penetration–THAT is what kills–penetration. Actually one doesn’t need coated bullets. Hard-cast bullets do the same thing and do it better. A typical bullet is just lead. Hard-cast bullets are made of a lead/nickel/tin alloy. I have some hard-cast chambered for .45 colt (.240 grain) and I had loaded them with enough powder to give them about 950 FPS at the muzzle. If someone gets hit with one of those their dead before they hit the ground.

I’m no navy seal or us marine, but i can ping 5.56 nato rounds off a 12″ steel target from 200 yards all day with my ar15. I’m just a hobbyist, but there is very, very little i fear in this world when i have that awesome rifle in my hands.

If there is one thing having guns instills in you, it is a healthy respect for firearms. I’m not about to go f~~~ with anyone in a country where half the citizens have rifles and concealed carry handguns. That is one of the few things about my country (US) that still fills my heart with pride. No one will ever take us down with brute force, not even our own government with the most powerful military the world has ever seen.

Unfortunately, leftist idealism cannot be shot with an ar15. But stupid “democrat” criminals certainly can be if they threaten your life, liberty, or freedom on american soil.

I actually have Black Talon ammo. Have a round sitting right in front of me on my desk.

This is what I find amusing (no diss xanthine). The .223 is AT BEST a medium range varmit round. Think foxes, crows, coyotes, rabbits.

NATO does not use the round b/c it is a people killer; NATO uses the round b/c it is cheaper, lighter of weight and more often than not just wounds people.

There is a reason people deer hunt with the .30-30, .30-06,the .223 is to weak to be humane. Think about that.

Heat is also a factor. The .22-250 is superior except for weight, cost and heat. The .30-06 and the .30-30 are more powerful but lack the speed. Speed kills.
