Logic bomb the Patriarchy argument

Recently had my Mother try to use the Patriarchy and NAWALT arguments against me.

I suggested she could not possibly believe the Patriarchy discourse and during the discussion, like many other women, she used the, ‘But women have been oppressed for hundreds of years and men need to pay for this’.

I asked her if she seriously thought that I should pay for believed oppression by my forebears, and she said yes.

She stopped talking to me after I asked her the following question.

Based on your belief that retrospective punishment over generational periods is acceptable, when will you be taking yourself, my sisters and their children to serve the blacks whom our forbears oppressed ?

Women – no logic, just feels and thinks.

I would laugh, but it just makes me sad.

Dude, when your own mother believes that it’s got to suck.
You handled it well but why deal with it at all?
My mother has said similar to me and I let her know that if she loves me the same as my sister then her logic is flawed. ..she shut up.
I refuse to talk about politics, religion and gender issues with her anymore.
I wasted years trying to get women to make sense. .

Women always fail to see an issue from any point of view that doesn’t have a favorable outcome to them. They see similarities between laws for women and laws for slaves and then assume they were similar. The ignore the elevated status women have held throughout most of history, as well as the special privileges (both legal and customary) they currently hold over men…because it doesn’t favor they outcome they want.

Personally it should never even get to the point of whether any idea of reparations for women as I don’t accept the premise that they were oppressed, certainly not in a way comparable to slavery.

Ok. Then do it.
