what I’m getting at here is movies are another way society tells women it’s ok to be a single mother. Also, single mothers are full of drama, and drama makes good movies. No one is going to make a movie about a single guy going his own way, avoiding all drama and working for himself.

I am struggling to think of movies made before 1980 with single mothers.
Film noir or western? There wouldn’t be any war movies, sons of single mothers would have been exempt from the draft in the 1940s.

That’s a really good point. They don’t make many movies with a single father, doing well, and not in a relationship. If there is a guy portrayed like this in a movie, its early in the flick, and its only until a woman can come along and show him how much his life is really missing without her in it.

How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being.

Watch Curly Sue, with John Belushi. Homeless guy with a daughter scamming people for food. He scams a woman, she takes him and the daughter home. The woman falls in love with the daughter, the daughter brings the woman and her father together, happily ever after.

Yep, that’s how Lions work. Think back to high school science class. Lions operate like this. One male lion to a “pride”. That male lion breeds with all the other lionesses and makes more cubs. The male cubs grow up and either challenge their father or leave the pride and starts their own.

With the lion king, Mufasa and Scar are brothers. Mufasa was king, and Scar was just kinda there. They addressed this in the first 5 minutes. Scar said “I wouldn’t dream of challenging you Mufasa, as far as brains go, i got the lion’s share, but when it comes to brute strength, i’m afraid i’m at the shallow end of the gene pool”. Scar knew he couldn’t fight Mufasa, because Mufasa was too big.

What the movie fails to tell the little kids that watch the show is, Mufasa and Scar were brothers. Mufasa had children with the women in the pride. Mufasa son was Simba, and Simba got together with Nala who was his sister. Ohh but it goes deeper. Simba and Nala had Kiara. And Kiara fell in love with Kovu. Kovu was Scar’s son that he had with another chick named Zira.

    Mufasa and Scar are brothers
Simba and Nala are brother and sister
Simba and Kovu are first cousins
Kovu and Kiara are second cousins

Lion king was my favorite movie growing up, i know way more about it than i probably should.

    On Showtime atm…

Bridgette Bird is a smart, scrappy, young single mom trying to navigate life in South Boston with an extremely unconventional family. She struggles to make ends meet, which leads her to impulsive and at times immature decisions (red flag). Above all, Bridgettte wants to make a better life for her son Larry (for herself). SMILF takes on motherhood, co-parenting, and female sexuality through a raw and unfiltered lens. Don’t miss (oh, i think i will – same circus different tent) this semi-autobiographical half-hour comedy from the creative mind of Frankie Shaw, an original and fresh new female voice.

    The Sixth Sense

(By the way: I wasn’t aware of any anal and phallic stages when I watched E.T.)

"I saw that there comes a point, in the defeat of any man of virtue, when his own consent is needed for evil to win-and that no manner of injury done to him by others can succeed if he chooses to withhold his consent. I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’" (Atlas Shrugged)
