(Putting it in the “money” category because it was the most fitting)
I’m gonna vent. This might be a bit “all over the place” but I’m the most stressed I’ve been in several years.
I’ve been on the job hunt since being let go from NASA on the 2nd, as some of you may remember.
I’ve done well over one hundred applications and resumes by now with only one unsuccessful interview three weeks ago.
I’ve used all my remaining money covering bills for this month and still didn’t have enough to cover everything, and will be losing my laptop that I’m making payments on very soon.
My truck’s biweekly payment is due Saturday, and its insurance is due this weekend as well.
My rent has to be paid by Sunday or I get an $85 late fee and an eviction notice on Tuesday. My rent is $802 monthly (all bills paid), and that’s one of the cheapest apartments around here.
I’ve been somewhat in touch with a construction company. They need someone to create spreadsheets and data for projects in my area, and the pay is about $25 per hour and per diem. I could use that for sure. I hope and pray they get back to me tomorrow. The guy DID call me back two days ago, but I missed the call. He said he’d like to get in touch with me to discuss the position further. I e-mailed him my resume. Hopefully something goes from there.
Another thing that’s stressing me is that I learned yesterday my dad is getting surgery done in the morning and will have his big toe amputated due to complications with diabetes and neuropathy. Wal-Mart (his employer) screwed him over and I don’t believe I ever want to give them my business again. To get out of this mess, he even created a GoFundMe page which he normally wouldn’t do, but is in a horrible situation (read about it on the GoFundMe page here). Forcing someone to work when they are recommended by their doctor to recover and losing an appendage as a result just seems immoral. I’m all for businesses and capitalism and whatnot, but screw those companies that screw over their workers. Because of them not allowing him to recover, he’s having to experience this. I hope he successfully sues them.

Anonymous18Sorry to hear of the hardships you’re going through. Hope you hear from the construction company. You definitely need some cash flow going.
Stick around, if you don’t lose your laptop and keep us posted about your dad’s surgery. It is a relatively safe procedure.
West wishes man, life does suck at times.

Aggressively pursue that. If the guy called you to discuss further. … call him back and don’t email or “wait” for a response to your email. GRAB the bull by the horns. None of this “hopefully something goes from there” attitude. Take charge of the situation as much as you can.
“Good afternoon, thanks very much for your call and message. I would be delighted to have another conversation …. ” use your imagination here. But no approaching these things passively anymore.
If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.Aggressively pursue that. Thanks for that. Y’all really helped pick me up a bit. I’m feeling a little better already. I’m going after it first thing in the morning!!

Anonymous42Hey Governor, if all goes wrong and s~~~s the bed I have a place you can stay in the middle of Nowhere, Vermont 05032 No jobs, no people, and all wild game you can hunt and eat.
You’ll get through this, and KM is right about grabbing that bull by the horns! Otherwise it’s the hooves!
I’d rather be at the bull’s horns than below its hooves!
I have a few people interested in buying my old, beat-up car (simply because it’s a T-Bird), and that should help boost me SOME. But I’ve gotta find something very, VERY soon!!

Anonymous42Liquidate the iron bro, Detroit iron stored in Texas is a fast sell around here, my truck broke in two from following the salt shakers every year, I oiled the body and frame annually and as soon as I stopped, in no time flat, CHEW CHEW CHEW, I got through inspection one last time, good till next July. I’m hoping it lasts another 25 trips to Vermont so I can clean all my s~~~ out of there and leave it abandoned for all intents and purposes.
You’re lucky your in Texas, if houses in the rust belt with no mortgage are going into insolvency, Imagine how much more people are willing to walk away from a house with a mortgage.
It’s that f~~~ing bad! But you won’t hear anything about it on the 6:00 P.M. NEWS!
In the News today; Kim Kardashion— bla-bla-bla-blaf~~~ing bla!~
Chris, I’ve been working my ass off just to stay broke! I feel like I’m trying to raise a Trident class submarine using my lungs for a compressor!
I’ve been liquidating s~~~ for YEARS! That’s been my job since 2012 when I went into debt to finish the exterior of that house being eaten by high taxes on one side and the rust belt on the other.
I hope Hellery gets in so EVERYONE can hold hands singing kumbaya as the rust belt goes SUPERNOVA!
They turned life for the common man into a nightmarish rendition of Jaws, I’ve got my Springfield 30.06 and taking aim on the scuba tank in the sharks mouth!
Life is good brother, just live through it so you can get to talk about it! There’s been a war on men for 50+ years and it’s not looking to good for this society…
Sorry to hear of your troubles.
If in the US, which it sounds like you are, find a MANPOWER location or other day-temp agency who you can get single day work from… and work. They are in most areas of the country and if you can get to their office they provide you day labor work, sweeping, cleaning, sometimes assembly line, etc. and pay the same day.
No longer can we walk away, we must run. Remove the motive power.
“Good afternoon, thanks very much for your call and message. I would be delighted to have another conversation …. ” use your imagination here. But no approaching these things passively anymore.
I ask the following out of pure ignorance, and not to contradict you: wouldn’t that make Chris come off as desperate? Isn’t it true that the person who gives off the air of needing the other the least has the most amount of power?
If not, then, f~~~, I’ve been going about this job searching thing all wrong.

If you worked at NASA and have STEM degree or experience.
Contract Engineering saved my life. I was sending out hundreds of resumes, etc. Didn’t know the power of using a contract house.
Good luck
Peace brothers
