    There is utterly no point to life when you get right down to it but I enjoy learning and making my own decisions.

    Ill get right to the chase. I love cigarettes. I love everything about them. The feeling, the ritual, the break to get away from other people, meeting exciting people, always having a pal, the aesthetics, and just having one when you feel bummed.

    I started when I was 17 now 19 but I control myself easily, I go months without one or weeks with them quite often.

    The thing is half the time I feel like s~~~ before I light up because I know its killing me and although my life isnt that exciting right now I dont want to get f~~~ed with some disease when it is.

    I dont know what to do because I love them but Im too smart to know that I might be getting the bad end of a deal.

    So I dont know if I need to incorporate a new philosophy in my life to totally enjoy them or just drop them which I would highly prefer to not do since I enjoy them so much. One of the few things I enjoy so much.

    Helps with depression and some of the neurological issues I have although I do notice my sleep gets f~~~ed when I smoke more.

    You should die for what you care about and I have no extreme want to live past 70.

    Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

    And they get such a bad wrap compared to other things when almost anything can cause cancer. The government really has a heavy hand on them and does there best to demote it and I wonder why as the they dont give a s~~~ about me. Maybe to kill free spirits, make people second guess themselves? Its just not as apart of the culture as it used to be.

    I have had the same struggle off and on over the years, but for the most part go without them for long periods of time. I have no answer for you, as I have none for myself. I stay on the healthy side for the most part, ride a bike often, stay in really good shape, but have the same feelings as you do about all this in every way. I break down sometimes and smoke a pack a day for a few weeks on end then quit for months, sometimes years. I would say the best you can do is keep it to a minimum. For me the problem is I smoke weed too and a cigarette after a bong hit is fantastic, and going back and forth from one to the other all night sometimes can get a bit out of hand but is somehow golden because of habits picked up in my youth I guess. Beer, weed, and smokes, among other things were kind of the thing with the crowd I ran with for about 4 years or so from the ages of 17-21. Oddly enough once I got to legal drinking age it all faded away, I guess as the friends drifted apart seemingly one by one, several opting out of life altogether.

    I would recommend trying to go to e-cigarettes, which aren’t as bad for you.

    Wait until they make you gauge, when the addiction outweighs the pleasure, then it’s no longer pleasurable, it’s slavery, and then you can’t tell if a person is ever going to quit.

    Fact: Tobacco is more addicting then heroin and one drop is equal to 2/3 strength Indian Cobra venom.

    I may not be a smoker but I did read a quit smoking book out of curiosity. All I got to say after reading the book is that people cannot do what you do in dealing with cigarettes, because cigarettes are probably up there in being one of the most addicting habits in the world to quit. I am saying this, because I do not wish for you to mislead other young people who might start to smoke thinking that they can just quit whenever they want that easy. I do this because I care about people that much.

    We all know about the heart disease and lung cancer risks associated with smoking, however, delayed tissue healing may be a bigger problem. If you have a fracture/cut/bruise/etc, it will take 50% longer to heal than in a non-smoker. This is due to the blood’s decreased Oxygen carrying capabilities.

    Your brain will be deprived of it’s oxygen supply as well, which may lead to getting married, fathering a child, or worse.

    Im just going to enjoy them minimally and wean off them when I stop feeling a buzz. I got two packs of american spirit lights to cut the nicotine and Im taking a break until I start to feel the buzz again.

    I have done this for the past two years and know people like Joe who do this as well. And I also know people that got addicted after the first drag. Genetics.

    CDC statistic 90 percent of smokers who quit before they are 40 do not receive any ailments because of their smoking. And its hard to even call me a light smoker as the most Ive ever smoked in one day is 5.
