Just had to vent on this topic so I apologize about this sounding a bit bitchy. I just started my work for a great engineering firm in San Jose (you all know why I’m not saying too much more). You would think that any engineer who was hired by this company would: know their s~~~, have a strong work ethic, and at least be grounded with a modicum of sanity. Evidently I was wrong. Not only are some of my co-workers trying to cheat the system’s hours programs, but they apparently are disturbingly liberal too. Eventually our conversations went to politics and evidently they: believe Russians hacked the US presidential election, no one showed up for Trump’s inaugural address, the mainstream media hasn’t been lying the whole time, and they prescribe to the entire politically correct dogma. You would think these “smart” engineers would realize the party they subscribe to doesn’t: butt out of their personal life choices (the left constantly has government butt in) and taxes the living s~~~ out of them with few to little tax returns (single men, all of them). To be honest, it is very depressing and infuriating to see just how far gone people from my generation are.

It doesn’t even stop there, this s~~~ is making my life difficult in every aspect. With all these libtarded bitches here I: constantly have to keep my views quiet because if I say anything “out of line” I’m going to be doxed or hazed out of a job (in a very expensive city no less) or the average person I run into is going to treat me like s~~~ (everything is so political now, you can’t have friends here without placating to their bulls~~~ rather than agreeing to disagree) and finally don’t even get me started on dating. I gave up on dating a long time ago, I know it’s a doomed prospect. My mom however, has been getting on my s~~~ telling me to keep an open mind and find a “nice girl”. Even if it wasn’t a raw deal, how would I meet anyone here that isn’t just some libtarded shill that cares more about their socialist ideology than anything (and I mean ANYTHING)?

I understand not all leftists are like this (>.>). But how can you even argue that this isn’t the mainstream of your party and still keep a straight face at this point? How can you possibly understand what it’s like to be surrounded by extremists CONSTANTLY and to always be told you are evil, or that you are dumb, deny you a service, or sabotage your life just because you want as little government interference in people’s lives as reasonably possible or that you want people to be judged by merit rather than their identity. My ancestors escaped the Communist Revolution of China, most of my family was slaughtered and I am the last of a family line. We came here, LEGALLY, to forge a new life. Now, I’m in a country that appears to be barrelling to the far left and women are so inhospitable that securing my family’s line is out of the question. If you are a leftist, again, how can you possibly understand what I am dealing with on a daily basis? How can you say to me that all is well in the world and that we are just dealing with a “vocal minority” from your party?

Regarding their attitude towards cheating the workplace hours program, I think you really need to keep quiet about your work hours and not talk about your work ethic or theirs. It sounds like these people around you at work may get jealous and try to sabotage you in some way, strange I know but lazy people get offended by people in the workplace who actually do their job and try to take them out.

Unfortunately, you will need to keep your head down, work your ass off and not engage your co-workers in anything but the most benign discussions, i.e. you can only talk about the weather or the massive s~~~ that your dog mustered up before you left for work this morning.

When they ask what you did over the weekend it would be ill advised to talk about going to the shooting range, cooking a steak on the grill, going to church, watching the Army / Navy football game etc.

I would further recommend that you never allow yourself to “take the bait” when your peers try and draw you into political discussions such as asking your opinion of some “proposition” on the ballot. You would be wise to also shun the company holiday parties, picnics, happy hours, etc. as the illusion of a relaxed off-the-clock environment may make you feel that you are free to let your guard down…. you can’t. You certainly cannot say that the latest Ghost Busters or Star Wars movies sucked ass.

I work at an 8A minority owned firm and have watched other politically conservative “white devils” get fired after voicing their opinions. During the presidential campaign a former Coast Guard woman had simply said that she didn’t trust Hillary Clinton, and more recently an older gentlemen said that the main stream media was behaving like a bunch hyenas. I was physically present and bore witness to these seemingly reasonable verbal observations, and each time I thought to myself “Aw man that’s the wrong thing to say around these people”. And sure as s~~~ within 2 weeks time, they were each gone in a puff of smoke and ash with no real justification ever given to those of us left behind as to why they were fired except “They just weren’t fitting in here”.

Do not for one second think that any differing political opinions will be fairly entertained in any way by your management or your co-workers. The later of which will out you because you make them look bad by simply doing your job with some level of work ethic.

My 2 cents. Sounds like a well paying job, so if you do stay, save like crazy. No discussions on politics or religion at work. Be the guy who doesn’t care about such issues, not one who opposes. Colleagues are rarely friends, don’t look for that at work.

Thank you for the advice everyone; to be honest, I have been “flying stealth” the entire time. Even so, they get on my case for being a “fence sitter”. Gotta admit, it’s pretty taxing on one’s patience. Yeah, the job pays well and on top of that it is one of the top companies of my field. The only downsides are that it is expensive as f~~~ to live around the area and most of the people are too busy having their heads up their asses to view anything in an objective lens.
