Kid Rock appears to be gearing up for a potential Senate run after the Michigan rocker launched a campaign website, kidrockforsenate.com this week.
“Stay tuned, I will have a major announcement in the near future,” the 46-year-old musician, real name Robert James Richie, wrote in a message on his Twitter account Wednesday.

Rock also tweeted out the name of what appeared to be his new campaign website, and assured his fans it was real and sanctioned by him.

i was amazed at the audacity when i first saw this,
kid rock always struck me as a crack smoker,
and well…
not a politician.
then i remembered Marion Barry and thought ‘what the hell..”.

however upon reflection,
he might just be popular enough to make it.

I really would run for Congress. It wouldn’t be that difficult to do, especially in the South. I’m in the Bible Belt. All i would have to do is go to all the churches and talk to people. But i’m a Republican. I can’t just do like the Dems do and promise people free s~~~. I have to craft my message around personal freedom and choice.

I have to be able to make people feel that it is in their best interests to follow my ideas and policies. I could hire a good speech writer and get that done. Throw a few bible verses in the speech and i’ll be good to go.

What I really would like to do is run for Governor. First black Governor of Alabama has a nice ring to it. I would seriously consider doing that once i get in my 45-50’s. I could transform this state. Hell i would put in a state lottery and eventually get rid of state taxes. Tennessee and Florida do it, why not Bama. Lots of stuff i want to do.

It’s like Sonny from Sonny and Cher campaigning as Sonny from Sonny and Cher running for Congress. Would be interesting to play Cowboy @ rallies though.

Kid Rock was a big deal, when he first came out. His “Straight outta the Trailer” attitude was cool amongst kids my age. I really don’t like his music though. His music really doesn’t represent Michigan at all. I don’t think him as Senator would do much better. He was supposed to make a song about the U.P. and he mixed a “Sweet Home Alabama” into it. WTF? The guy has not a single original idea in his head, nor does he have any kind of unique style or talent. Anyways, All the trailer park kids I knew growing up did not listen to Kid Rock. I.C.P. and Eminem were the biggest acts round here.
