I have a copy of a few of the pics I sent to my buddy through my Gmail before I wiped the device.

You’re not serious. You’re trying to “do the right thing” and then you distribute them? For your penance, go say 3 hail-MGTOW’s and an our father.

I realise how bad that sounds. For some context I had a rush of blood and sent the email for insurance. Why I didn’t email it to myself i don’t know, but he’s a close friend and has deleted them. They sit in my sent items.

I have to say this whole thing has stressed me out and I’d rather the whole thing never happened.

The moment i saw the pics on my screen at work, the adrenaline was going.

They have not and will not be distributed. I can guarantee that.

It’s not a big deal if you trust the guy you’re the only one privy.

That was sensible so you can relax.

Who can blame you? Its’ not the first time a woman f~~~s up and expects a man to fix her problems while she creates a batch of new ones. I’m serious. Stressing you out is what women are experts at. Calling them “experts” is wrong, because they are totally unaware. Whatever you need to do to purge the stress, man. She’s not worth it. Live and learn.

No white knighting on any level.
Because “no good deed goes unpunished”.

As long as you’re the better man, you can’t go wrong.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

I work in IT for an investment bank and it was the banks Christmas do last night, which I opted not to attend.
This morning a banker brings her corporate Blackberry to IT, explaining how she dropped the phone down the toilet at last night’s Christmas festivities. The phone switches on and appears to be operational apart from the touch screen no longer works. I explained to her that the phone will need to be replaced and paid for using her departments budget code. She’s perfectly fine with this, but ask if it’s possible to retrieve the photos on the blackberry – This is a little annoying given it’s a company blackberry and not intended for personal use. Anyway, I ask her to leave the device with me and I’ll get back to her later in the day.

I should re-iterate at this point that the device is a corporate device and belongs to the bank.
I hook the blackberry up to my pc, enter the device password, access the removable storage and head straight for porn archives that comprise her ‘camera’ folder. I Could not quite f~~~ing believe what I was seeing – several topless selfies, pics of her bf/husband going down on her and several pics of other activities that can probably be left to the imagination at this point. I can’t quite fathom the stupidity of bringing this device to IT unless she’d completely forgotten the content of these pictures, which is difficult to imagine, given the sheer amount of them.

I decided to wipe the device and tell her the pictures weren’t retrievable, doing her a HUGE f~~~ing favour. I can’t be certain but it’s likely this would have cost her job or at least have some disciplinary measures taken against her. I was convinced the penny would have dropped at some point but she sounded genuinely disappointed when I explained I couldn’t get her pictures back. My decision might not be a popular one with some MGTOW’S, but I’m a contractor here and really don’t want to be getting involved with this sort of thing and hey, it’s Christmas.

I thought I’d share this with you guys, just shows the total stupidity of some entitled c~~~s in the workplace.

I would have blackmailed her for a blowjob. He he he he.

Also my first thought! Blow jobs for lunch! Hhah

Do a nice thing, and karma will repay you down the line.

But being shes a female dont expect here to “owe you one” as we would think.

it is much better to have a friend who owes you a favor

I very much doubt she sees it that way.

Whether she sees herself as a friend or not is of negligible importance. Quietly shelving knowledge and banking favors (especially ones that don’t cost you anything) is usually never unprofitable in the long run.

Kind of like those sled dog/arctic explorers who cache supplies along their route. Or owning a firearm. Never tell anyone else where it is or even that you have it. You will probably never need it…or it might be the one card you need to make a winning hand someday.

When I hand it back to her, I might say:
“anyone else may not have been so discreet”..

I like the subtlety and it would irritate me to let this go without giving her some indication that I’ve just done her a massive favour.

but if you’re gonna be a hero, collect the f~~~ing medal.

Right on. Hopefully create a little anxiety for her while I’m at it.

You men say it better than I have.

Either way, never tell anyone outside the family what you’re thinking 😉

Yeah Joller, you’re right. I just keep my mouth shut about everything. I once caught a guy during a security audit going to fetish sites. I gave him a friendly warning about how everything you do is logged. He was freaked out that I’d turn him over to HR. Why would I do that? Actually, she was a decent HR lady not like the bulk of them.

I’ve got a client right now with a sub-contractor whose internal email server is rapidly showing up on email blacklists due to sending malicious mails..

They are sending out PDFs with malicious hyperlinks in them leading to a phishing web site. I’m wondering how many credentials they’ve harvested. The phishing web site was shut down w/in an hour so kudos to those IT guys.

You did what you thought is right, Joller. At least you should have peace of mind.

I’m going to buck the trend—I’m with Soylent generation. I say f~~~ her. She misused company property and all you did was give her pass on personal accountability—do you think for a second she would do the same for you? NOT a chance. I don’t know Joller but a little whiteknight crept into the situation—Women must be held accountable. Now I would buy your take on this IF in the process of holding her accountable she might have found some way to turn it back on you…OK then I get it.

I understand your point, Pistol Pete, but in this scenario you’re looking at an IT contractor vs a banker, raking in f~~~ knows how much per yeah for the firm.

I believe there was a real risk of me losing my job if I reported her, I really do. Don’t forget this is an investment bank and they know which side their bread is buttered.

I’ve seen this scenario play out before with a colleague at previous company and despite the fact he reported it, he came under a lot of scrutiny.

I put myself first, and doing her a favour was a byproduct.

In that case I withdraw my objection and agree–you did the right thing because YOU put YOUR interests first.

That’s a stupid behavior on so many levels.
Even if you wished to do her a favor you should have said her that you did find unappropriate pictures and asking her what she wished to do with it.
Even better would have been making a full backup, then wiping all, then saying her: “I have see the content, including many unappropriate pictures, but then I unwillingly wiped all”.

Making her aware that you can report her but you aren’t going to do it isn’t the same as reporting her. Not even closer.

@eric Lauder – I kept some copies of the pictures as insurance.

I’m not sure you have read through all the comments and fully grasped the situation.

When it comes to females in general, do what causes you the least amount of stress. Stress is the real enemy in life

    1. I would never hint at her or give her any reason to think that I know what personal data was on her corporate device.

If anyone ever finds out that you white knighted you lose your job.

    2. You didn’t save her. Soon enough her destructive behavior will be discovered, etc.

    3. The farther you are from her the better.

Remember brothers, crime scene two is always worse than crime scene one.

When you choose to white knight you are potentially crime scene two. Always. If you choose this path, be careful, be very very careful.

    Peace brothers

Good thing you did, why exposing yourself to potential problems… and you can feel good about yourself.

Funny though how often this happens. Once had a female coworker “accidently” leaving her whole portfolio of non public pics and videos on USB, acted like i never opened the folder. They are snakes with s~~~ like this.
