The other people in the Republic primary made Donald Trump sign that pledge where they would all support whomever won the Republican primary. After Trump won, only a few of those whom signed the pledge supported Donald Trump. The rest of them went back on their word on a pledge they created. This includes John Kasich both signing this pledge and later breaking this pledge.

If he tries to run for anything again, breaking the pledge will come back to haunt him, because it shows that he’s not a man of his word and can’t be trusted. Then again, who trusts a politician anyway?
