    Or at least Partially.
I like everything with props and Guns, Mitchells in Particular. The G/H and the J with the Steel nose get my Adrenaline flowing.
And This one is almost that: a Landing a Twin Engine Bomber on an Aircraft Carrier. With a Hook and more OOOooomph.
These Sonsabitches Rock, would not mind hitching a ride some time – being flown around by the best there are.

Relatively calm waters and you could see he was allover the yoke!

His landing zone was a blip in real time! Only Elwood could put it down like that!

G-mow thanks for sharing great footage. Awesome comparison Tower! They definitely thread the needle when they land! A lot of the former Cods ended up fighting fires. Some still have the radial engines, nothing like that sound. Some have been converted to turboprop! It’s an extended life for an old warhorse!

God bless our Warriors Past and Present!

    You mean the Grumman Trackers?
Getting a Turbo has transformed that thing!

The short nose is what still makes the Tracker ugly IMO but hey, what a machine!

If i had a Turbo Mallard, i would convert the damn thing to be a mobile flying home and cruise around the world with it.
    Sexyness.

I am not sure the DC-3 family “needed” Turbos. Tough as nine inch nails.

And the men that fly all these…
    Thumbs up!

The acceleration must be brutal. I always love takeoffs.

    Freakin’ beautiful.

I rode one between Subic and the Constellation back in ’85. Take-off was unremarkable, you’re just aboard another small, commuter, prop-driven, airliner if you don’t count the Mae West, helmet, and headset.

The trap aboard Connie was something else though. The seats are rear facing so you’re “pushed” back right into them.

While the fighter and other jet jockeys get all the press, the COD and helo drivers get all the flight hours. There’s a COD or two heading to or from every deployed carrier 24/7. The helos aren’t just launched before flight ops and recovered after, they’re constantly buzzing between all the ships in the battle group too.

If you want to fly, really fly, stay away from the jets.

Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.

Yep S-2 Tracker. The old Cod. That Dc-3 looks good with turboprops. That airframe will be around another 50 yrs.

Parts for those round engines get hard to come by. I know what you mean though. Nothing like the sound of a round engine. Last one I seen was in high school. A little airline called Vintage Airways out of Sanford,Florida came over the high school with the right engine dead and feathered. I know his left leg was burning holding that rudder over on short final. An aviation icon the Douglas DC-3.
