It’s the very idea that there is somehow a “life script” that you are expected to follow, a way of being and relating to the world you are expected to abide by, and furthermore a paradigm that you did not ask for, but were born into. Many of us may have been drawn here initially after realizing that the tired routine of pairing up, settling down, and consuming constantly was not in our best interests, due to current gender dynamics, etc. I’ve come to realiZe that the red pill goes deeper than even that. It’s questioning the prevailing attitudes, your own behavior, thoughts and beliefs even with a benign, bemused skepticism. Using your imagination to better your position according to your will in the face of “blue pillers” who view imagination and hypotheticals as mere toys to be played with while drinking themselves into a spiritual coma. “Show me a mans friends and I’ll show you his future” a wise man once said. Cream only rises to the top because of its inherent difference to the substances surrounding it. The higher a pyramid, the larger the difference between the top and bottom. Go your own way. In all the ways you can conceive of, with all your heart and soul. And never look back.

I don’t think this always true

My two closest friends can be quite lazy, don’t read, write, or have many ambitions.

Yet I am the opposite, then again I would be friends with most of the members on here if I knew them in real life.

… which is less about “you are who your friends are” (fitting in), and more about how you set yourself apart from them (standing out).
