I hate that the whole “independent woman” image, which is often completely hollow anyway, is so applauded. Why should women get their own special name for acting maturely? It’s called being a GROWN-UP. And it’s what everybody should do when they hit a certain age.

As a child, your parents take care of you. They feed you, clothe you, and make sure that there’s a roof over your head (or at least they should, if they’re good parents). When you hit 18, it should be understood that now that you’re no longer a child, you have to start standing on your own feet. Which means thinking about getting a job, applying to uni, and generally not relying on your parents to clean up after you.

So if a woman manages to do all of those things – which is rare – then she’s not some bleeding goddess. She a f~~~ing adult who’s doing what she should be doing – what all of us have to do at some point! Getting a life!
