As I’ve continued to work on a fitness-centric lifestyle, I’ve noticed a few things that go beyond the normal need to lift weights (I.E. attracting women):
1) I’ve come to enjoy many different fruits and vegetables with a wide variety of nutrients. The 6 pack I’ve gained is nothing compared to the mental clarity and focus eating healthy has brought me. I’m convinced that the lifestyle is more than looking good, it’s a competitive advantage for cognitive abilities.
2) In shape men are more respected.. I work for a software company and am, without question, the most “buff” guy in the building. There is an underlying respect given for someone that is in great shape. Once again, I don’t mean this in an arrogant way, it’s just a way of being respected career wise. It may be coincidence, but my career has only improved with my increased fitness.
While I do enjoy the action of lifting is all the work and money worth it to you guys?
I have to eat 3.5k calories a day to maintain my weight, It takes time getting my meals together, and it costs me like 600 bucks a month all in all.
And for what to be bigger for bitches I dont care about?
I also have ibs and back problems so its just a pain in the ass.
What do you guys think? Experience. Stories.
If the purpose is for strength and health, of course it is.
Weightlifting is good for bodybuilding also. If people notice it and give you more attention or respect, then it is a consequence of weightlifting. A good and unexpected one. You may also get a bad one… jealousy from lazy people involved in the body positivity movement.
I noticed how I was before and after I worked out long enough in the gym. Before I couldn’t think straight, logically and I bombed job interviews, but after working out for a while, I started doing interviews better (yet still no offers, but I got closer), I was thinking better, and I had the feeling of accomplishment. I struggled for a very long time to lose weight, and now at long last it’s going down. I do more bike riding (20 hours 6 days a week) than weights, but when I was doing weight I noticed my life was showing some signs it was improving physically, mentally and my confidence in myself (HR management killed it) started to rebirth.
Living life well is always worth it. Make the right health choices while you’re young, because whatever you do while young will likely come back to either award you or hurt you later. I mean my dad’s knees needed replacing and his heavy lifting job was 40 years ago which ended 22 years ago. So whatever happens when you’re young will come back when you’re older.
