So, a Trump supporter walks into a bar. He is told to remove his MAGA had because the owner didn’t like it. He refused. There was a court case over it. The guy wearing the had said it was a symbol of spiritual expression, and was offended he was asked to leave.
So, is MAGA a religion, if this is the case?
As per the article:
The lawyer representing The Happiest Hour, Elizabeth Conway, argued that he was not discriminated against because only religious – not political – beliefs are protected under state and city discrimination law.“Supporting Trump is not a religion,” Conway argued.
Piatek’s attorney Paul Liggieri responded in court, “The purpose of the hat is that he wore it because he was visiting the 9/11 Memorial.”
“He was paying spiritual tribute to the victims of 9/11. The Make American Great Again hat was part of his spiritual belief,” Liggieri claimed. “Rather than remove his hat, instead he held true to his spiritual belief and was forced from the bar,” Liggieri told Justice David Cohen, the New York Post reported.

Anonymous12Surely it is discriminating against someone for no good reason. If you own a cake store and have to supply wedding cakes to homosexuals despite being morally opposed than you should also have to serve someone wearing a MAGA cap even if you oppose their politics.

Anonymous7Ok, I’ll bite.
It is not.
Perhaps regular folks have had enough of the leftards and are fighting back, reasonable explanation, no?You are quick to dismiss Trump supporter’s as low brow people. This, I think is why you are seeing the backlash that you cannot understand.
Just speculating.
It would be prohibited under most public accommodation laws, not the protected classes statues.
Also, I agree, its not a religion.
How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being.
Gentleman. This man, is the most EPIC TROLL of all time.
Remember the Gay Wedding cake?

You guys DO know who he is trolling right?

This guy is on this level RIGHT HERE:

This argument is 2 sides.
Jim and Bingbong call and escort service and ask for a hooker for a 3 way.
They send over one but it’s a woman. So one of the guys say.. Okay… Stick it in my Corn hole, and the hooker says..I don’t have a Pepe. Should Jim and Bingbong still have to pay for the hooker? Or kill her and get their money back? Now C~~~y and Fatsy go to a get a haircut and walk into a place called Bitch CUTS. They both ask to get the 1/2 off special. The Man at the shop remembers he lives in Australia, and does not want to get in trouble. The customer looks at a dog grooming magazine and says” I want you to make me look like this:

After performing the service, the man takes off his gas mask, and then goes blind.A fat woman comes into a business and asks for a screwdriver. But the person tells them they don’t have any. The Fat woman says, I NEED A SCREWDRIVER! So the shop owner regretfully walks across the street and brings over a screwdriver. The man asks for $350 dollars. The woman gets very angry and says! Why don’t you take the state food stamp card! The person behind the counter says regretfully, I should have been a mechanic instead of being a lawyer.

Really missed what could be a hot topic by going for the “is maga a religion”. So much more to talk about with the judges ruling.

The bigotry and hypocrisy by the SJW progressives is becoming more obvious and open by the day.
Waiting for the movie.
It’s no more a religion than Kekistani is a nationality. But if that’s the game we have to play to force idiots with power to stop being dickheads, so be it. They made the tool that we’re going to use to beat them over the head.
I had a MAGA hat in my office. A small space, situated on my desk in such a way that you had to step into my office and sit at my desk to actually see it. I was “asked” by my boss if I would be willing to remove it from the office because it was too provocative–my boss knowing that I’m contrarian for the sake of controversy and understanding that my political opinions are basically expressions of “fact” (I don’t have emotion behind my opinions).

Actually owners can discriminate over clothing or hats, the owner has a right to kick someone out for wearing some hat or some shirt, or what is common no shoes no service. Even the owner clearly wanted peaceful resolution (aka to have Trump man take off the hat and continue drinking) but Trump man refused and got kicked out for it.
Piatek’s attorney Paul Liggieri responded in court, “The purpose of the hat is that he wore it because he was visiting the 9/11 Memorial.”
What a terrible defense as Trump and 9/11 are irrelevant and if you wanted to respect the victims you could have worn a different hat (like a 9/11 memorial cap).

The thing is you can tell homosexuals to remove their Bernie Sanders caps before you serve them and that is alright as long as you do not discriminate against them for being homosexual, with this case he was offered service just under the condition of him removing his hat, he got into a stink, got kicked out and then did a bulls~~~ lawsuit.

I personally don’t get why a homosexual couple would go to a fundamentalist Christian bakery to have them make them a wedding cake. I understand there is a need to not deny people services, but there has to be a limit.

The guy in question claimed MAGA was a spiritual/religious thing. I found this stupid. He took what was political, and turned it religious.
It got NEWS coverage. That was enough.

What is with the Apu thing? I haven’t watched much Simpsons, but i though Apu was decent enough. Ok, so they want to have an Indian actor now play Apu or something else like that? It has been like a decade since I watched any Simpsons, so whatever. Culture warriors happen to want to find reasons to fight I guess.

At least from what i personally know about the cases (look up details on your own before just taking my word) is that most Christian bakeries which denied service to homosexuals did not outwardly state their religion as the bakery rather the gays went to a bakery thought was gonna preform the service and the bigoted owners denied them on the basis of religion (Jack Philips for example and his website which mentions not a single peep of being a Christian bakery).
http://masterpiececakes.com/Meaning the Fundementalist Christian bakeries are non existent as they forget to mention their religion till a homo comes through the doors (kind of like how a convenience store just happens to forget the no Mexican rule till denying service to Mexicans or anyway you want to put it.
I understand there is a need to not deny people services, but there has to be a limit.
The idea of it is that homosexuals go into a bakery trying to get the service and get denied simply because of being homosexual keeping in mind the bakeries never state their religious bulls~~~ till a queer couple want a cake.

Apu is a stereotype and people hate the fact that it airs on the Fox networks nowadays. Apu is a typical Indian working in a convenience store so while i get the complaint i personally find racism funny so i don’t care about it.

anonymousyam, thanks for the clarification and more detail. Never quite fully looked into it. It looks like these Fundamentalists likely end up going halfway with things, wanting to end up maximizing revenue while not fully letting people know their religious views, while having a fall back to avoid doing things.
For branding purposes, and identifying purposes, you let people know. Even Chik-Fil-a does this. They are closed Sunday for religious reasons. You know they have religious values associated with what they do.

Chik fa la (fa la is how i spell it) there have their own problems with them (which is why i don’t buy their food) because in my opinion it is overpriced average food which i can show to be fact as supporting gay reform schools, anti gay marriage efforts and having a backing from Christian bigots (a following from those who support their actions).
I was gonna include Walmart on the list of Christian values but i decided against it due to weak evidence from what i have found of it as examples of Christian behavior (as of right now maybe ill find the evidence later). Yam always fact checks his sources.

One would assume that Christians possess values, hopefully in line with what Jesus would value. I am curious how a corporation can possess values that individual Christians can produce. Maybe a corporation can possess such values, to such a degree, that during judgement day, Jesus would tell it “well done, good and faithful servant”. Nah… but maybe since corporations are people, maybe some theologians can determine if it is ok to baptize them.
At least Chik gives people time off on Sunday. Anyhow, whatever here. I am dealing with enough problems trying to find a church, while not having a car, where I am. I am really driven to be flippant about these, and had said enough I think. I go on more, I am going into Christian theology and views, which I don’t think is meant for here. And I am likely the least qualified to talk on this. I still try to find others who are, however. Take what I said as you will. I had one person on a Christian gamer group I started on one site (trying to figure out what the heck games have to do with Christ) tell me my problem with not finding a church was that I rejected the gospel. On that note, I left that group.
Maybe all this is here so that maybe people can mourn. I don’t get why it is so difficult. It is.

The thing with the values of Jesus (again look up in the Bible, look it up yourself to not just take this Atheists word) is that people do not follow the values the good or the bad from the supposed Jesus. I get the hippy love Jesus of Jesus being akin to a John Lennon or a Bob Marley type figure while the Bible also puts Jesus as a violent figure (both seen as good and bad but still violent).
The Bible specifically states Jesus as flipping tables, his commandment to hate your family and follow him till death (if you don’t you cannot be a disciple of him), Jesus stating that you can drink or eat Poison as it won’t hurt you. But outside of that there is all the faith healings and exorcisms scattered out through the texts.
When you look into Jesus (in a more Objective stance rather then the Christian one) you see kind of a weird figure in line with other con men or frauds but in the end he is not the best figure out there.

Bigotry and hatred? right on but in a more serious manner here companies are made up of alot of different people, with different values, religions and whatever. At best the companies can get you to shut up on something but they cannot dig in your brain and erode them.
At least Chik gives people time off on Sunday.
Which is good for some (especially sports fans and what not) but personally for me (i do not work for that company) i enjoy working on Sunday where i am at right now. Sunday’s in general are more quiet and peaceful and i can get more done on them.
I am going into Christian theology and views, which I don’t think is meant for here
The problem with religious arguments is when they take a matter of claiming absolute truth over personal belief. The minute you (or anyone) state X religion is true then i must demand evidence for it and i will not let go off of that, i will demand for you (or anyone as i stated) to show the Objective facts, evidence, a testable hypothesis with a way to disprove, anything to prove their religion outside of Subjective faith but i won’t do it till first your (anyone) claim is made.
If you want an example you can read into my profile, go through replies (it is long but you will find it) and read Mgtow and Jesus Christ, Why i am a Christian and Atheism and Mgtow for the biggest kickers (i have more but this is just religion here). If you want just find my reply, read the entire threads and see examples of how it would go down if you claimed absolute truth.

For me, I see the teachings of Christ, combined with the other New Testament texts, have their own logic to them, and can be followed. But, I think more people in modern society get everything from every place else, and Christianity is just an add-on. For a person who is seeking to go with what Jesus said, and do it, in a way that would work, few people have anything to offer. I get frustrated with this personally. It is like a nice afterthought. I say this taking a LOT of historical context, and also add some Paul filter to it.
What you see is people end up doing what they want out of Jesus and ignore the rest. I personally try to take the whole picture personally with it, and see it. Jesus isn’t a fluffy Jesus at all.
Anyhow, what I see, above all, is people who are fans of Jesus, but not a lot who seek to do what Jesus said, at least in a reasoned way. The fact I probably have some autism, and follow things to logical conclusion, don’t pick up the relational part of Jesus at all, that is hyped up with evangelicals, but I get what Jesus said he wanted done. Of course, I run this with a Paulian filter, and add the creeds and other things to it, and fully realize Jesus not returning is an issue when trying to understand the New Testament. I think the delays resulted in what you see with the afterlife spoken as an immediate go to heaven or hell, which doesn’t even match with the Creed that Christians agreed to. This part is what people are focused on today.
Anyhow, I still sort. I set out as an agnostic when I was 18, falling away from Catholicism, to see if I could find real Christianity. I still hold onto this, while being 50, but get dismayed at how much ISN’T in line here at all. I see this now, where you have people claiming to be Christian, then joining a cult of personality around Trump, and just swallow him saying flattering things about the Bible and Jesus (so he is a Christian) when he ends up going WAY off in badly expressing what even basic Christianity is about and speaks about an “eye for an eye” being his favorite Bible verse.
