Years ago I read a definition of integrity. .
“Doing the right thing even if no one is looking ”
It stuck with me, sitting in the back of my mind. .haunting me.
I realized that I lacked FULL TIME integrity. .slowly I got to the point where I was self aware of my every action and was doing the right thing even when no one was looking. .
Being sneaky smoking weed and cheating on women lost the appeal. .
I liked the secret part of it. .like I was getting over on everyone around me,
Any of you guys go through this?
Maybe you see it coming?
Did you have a point where you realized that whatever you do you have to live with?I’ve said this on a few occasions, but you have to look at yourself in the mirror every morning and lay down at night with your thoughts. If you can do that, then I think you have integrity.
I’d like to be a little better looking (in the mirror), but other than that, I’m pretty ok with what I do every day. I would just say don’t sweat the little stuff, it’s the big stuff that matters. If you do what you do with good intentions, then it’s a whole lot easier to live with your mistakes. No one is perfect, but if you screw up trying to do the right thing, then it’s just a learning experience. But your integrity is intact.
Order the good wine
For me, that’s about the only way to go. I have to do what I think is right, because I have to live with myself, not other people.
It can be tempting to abandon one’s principles when under pressure or tempted, but you never know who is watching. Whatever we do, someone is going to not like us for it, so we might as well stick to our principles and be hated for who we are. Anyone that respects us is respecting the real thing, not some act.
What I find hard is sticking to my principles and being tact. For example, I don’t drink alcohol. Whenever I am offered any, I give a clear rejection of their offer, but I try to do the best I can to word it in a way that doesn’t sound like I am looking down on the person. If I don’t make an effort, my responses are usually blunt and can come off the wrong way.
One thing women will never have.
When I turned 30, I really wanted to change my life. .
I enrolled in a culinary school and reinvented myself. .funny how 20 years later I’m at it again. .
Values. .
Moral ‘ s
Trying to fine tune what I began back then. .
Praying.
MGTOW brought me back to life. .

Wait, smoking weed is not the right thing? I been f~~~ing up for a looooooong time now then. Though I don’t sneak around to do it, I am a man, and say “f~~~ you, I am going to do what I want to”. Thankfully, I live in a place where people walk around in public smoking it, so no worries really.
Ah Joe, in 1976 I smoked weed in N.Y.C.in 7th grade with my friends. .later in high school with friends and some teachers. .in college same thing. .
By the time I hit 30 I was done. .
If the culture didn’t frown on it it wouldn’t have been sneaky. ..
I miss it sometimes. .When I retire I plan on checking it out again. ..Redpillbible.
Right on!
Amazing. ..
I feel like God loves us no matter what. .
I’m only a mortal man, and I would forgive almost anything. ..
Children are sacred. Besides that, I think we are all going to get mercy unlimited. .

It can affect you differently as you age, you may not even like it anymore…
Good point Joe. .
We all f~~~ up in this crazy thing we call life.
I think if you try to learn from your mistakes and leave things better than you found them, then you are par for the course and that is good enough in this world.
Agreed. ^ !
Unfortunately society takes advantage of people with integrity, and most people learn this and get tired of being exploited and used.

i’m unsure how this lets one be exploited or used..
any examples ?Awesome posts everyone, these are ideas I need to apply to my life more.
"what a waste of a life, to marry, give up your freedom, just for the hope of not dying alone. Don't get married Son."
I’ve always thought lying to yourself is the worst thing
“To thine own self be true” Shakespeare wrote,so I guess there have always been posers among us.
I mean what I say and say what I mean and to hell with the consequences,it gets easier as you age,to the point where you really don’t give a flying f~~~ what someone else thinks.
“opinions are like assholes, everybody’s got one”
Full Metal Jacket
Great movie -too bad nobody in HW has the b~~~~ to make ’em like that anymore-somebody might be offended!
I can see the point of people trying to take advantage of a stand up guy, mistake his kindness for weakness,or just s~~~ test him because they are envious of his principles and want to see him f~~~ up.Lifes a bitch, but you don't have to marry one!

good clarification to hollowtips statement, thanks !

Anonymous3The problem with integrity is that its very definition is to “follow your moral values”. The issue is who provides the moral values we have.
Many of them are social or religious constructs that can hinder us, just like hollowtips said.
Take forgiveness as an example. If we understand forgiveness as an absolute concept then we end up suffering repetitive abuse and no respect at all, just by living through an artificial religious code.
So, most people take a more pragmatic view, where moral values are subjective. They never even try to reconcile the absolute Christian law of ‘you shall not kill’ with the reality of military service, as an example.
So, what would be real integrity?
In my view there is a natural ethic, that is something of divine origin called conscience. The difference lies in the fact that it is alive and responds to life.
There are circumstances where you should forgive and others where you shouldn’t.
My idea of “integrity” would be to listen and follow my own conscience.

Mmm. True.
Actions have consequences and consequences have prices. Cause and effect at work.

I can agree with that. A few people at work tried to take advantaged of my integrity. The funny thing is that those same people have little to no integrity at all, and cannot even look themselves in the mirror without drinking their issues away.
