The Master by PT Anderson who is most known for There Will Be Blood and Inherent Vice

Male-Male relationships (no homo) are the only ones worth a damn, where love is reciprocal, not just a one-way street like with a woman. You should know what I’m talking about… the sacrifice and brotherhood two men are capable of sharing. Something women don’t understand at all, much less display.

This film gives you that. It shows you it. It doesn’t care if you missed it or never understood. The slow pace and slight of hand quickly disinterests the unintended audience. We wave good-bye to them emphatically and impatiently. During that colorful build-up, the rightful audience, the men who this treasure was dedicated to, are spell bound and given an artful gift they wont soon forget.

Im still under it’s spell after repeated viewings. Dont even watch the trailers or clips, just get in your car, go to the DVD shop and pick up The Master. Eat your food and take a nap BEFORE this movie. Enjoy! I went into it knowing absolutely nothing about it except that PT Anderson made it. I was blown apart, touched to the core.

So what’s it about? Set in 1950.
A ne’er-do-well Navy man (Joaquin Phoenix) wanders into a peculiar community headed by an outspoken savant (Phillip Seymour Hoffman).

If don’t have the capacity to enjoy something deep like this, you will probably find it boring. Just saying. For me though, I think I may have found a new #1 … even better than my Sci-Fi obsessions like Alien Covenant or Bladerunner.

Dont spoil the Movie, go watch it!

Awesome. It’s on my list now, thanks.

I liked Phillip Seymour Hoffman in The Big Lebowski. Too bad he’s gone.

    Favs of Seymour Hoffman:

    The Master
    Charlie Wilson’s War
    Mission Impossible 3

there’s plenty more but either he was acting along side an idiot (Talent Mr. Ripley’s Matt Damon) or the role/ movie just flat out stank like horse shi.t anyway (Capote) …

Who could forget this scene, ever!

Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead and Owning Mahoney were also great one-offs with Seymour Hoffman front and center.

‘Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead’ is a really great movie! One of Hoffman’s last films was ‘God’s Pocket’. Definitely worth a look if you’re a fan of his…
