Invasion of the Body Snatchers just got real.
Morally I would know where to start.
    It just boggles the mind.

I always said spinach is good for you! What’s next? bone replacement from an oak tree? I know they already do it with treated coral, actually fit in the coral and the body uses it to grow bone while dissolving the coral. They do it with donor body parts, my friend had his ACL replaced with a dead dudes ligament and his body grafted to it and replaced it forming a new ACL.

From Barney Clark’s first mechanical heart to this? It’s like going from the Wright’s flyer, to the space station!

    Amazing! Good find FrostByte!

That’s crazy. Messing with DNA and genes at this level must have billions of variables they cannot account for. I hope they don’t stumble on the combination that starts a genetic apocalypse.

I agree with you 110% – these idiots do not know when to stop.

I give you this scenario. All germs and antibodies function almost identically across species. That’s the beauty of DNA.

Now they create a person by gene-splicing – a three person DNA strand. Now we have mutations of bacteria and viruses that evolve with this new DNA strand.

What happens when those bacteria and viruses go into circulation among the rest of us? Will our antibodies be able to ‘unlock’ the code from a different type of DNA and kill it? Or will a common cold virus from a 3-person DNA wipe us out?

    You guys tell me.

Is it now feasible that any plant virus might also be a threat?
When people started eating brains or screwing sheep viruses exclusive to those animals made the jump to people.

Yeah I agree. Eventually we will create some abomination that will resemble that of a human chimera. Plum Island already has a history of performing transgentic mutations/hybridizations. Eventually, one has to question the ethical and theological repercussions of playing God. It is just a matter of time before we create our very destruction. Again this is man’s feeble attempt to be a God. In the end, our own hubris will be our very demise.

    Fuck bitches... literally and metaphorically

Most of these mutations take time. If it is a virus this gives time for defenses to be created. If its a predator it gives time for prey to evolve. Hence, the environment evolves as a whole and maintains it’s checks and balances. We are circumventing environmental evolution and I can’t imagine it will be good.

Ergo – any species that cannot or will not live according to these laws will perish. That is how evolution protects itself.

All it takes is one asshole – and we have thousands.

I do remember it, now that you have reminded me. Otherwise, my brain is jammed on “salad fixings, spinach preferred over iceberg lettuce.”

Nothing quite like a fresh tomato and cucumber sandwich slathered in mayo. Freshly ground black pepper completes that little slice of heaven.

    It may come to that.

If they could turn a common leaf into a Black Angus steak that would solve some issues for the food supply, and up the risk on potential genetic threats. I wouldn’t put it past them to try.

Procreation would obsolete if you could literally grow own kids.
