I'm Not a Long Distance Utility!

For those on this page that know me, I had an ex-girlfriend that left me for a very manipulative, controlling, threatening “woman” (see the forum post “You’re Nice, But I’m Just Not Into Men” if you need the story.  Should be on the first page).

I stopped speaking to her about a year ago after too many disagreements, even as “friends.”  She’s kept in close contact with my mother, though (they’ve been practically best friends since I was dating her in 2011-2012).

I just now received a text message from her saying “I used you as a job reference lol”.  I only knew it was her number because I very briefly re-activated my Facebook page to look her number up because I didn’t have it saved anymore, and lo and behold!

My question:  Why!?  Why me of all people?  She didn’t even ask, she just listed me as one!  I have come to learn that women ALWAYS have a reason for doing things, that means anything.  I assume she’s doing it so I’m not ever <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>completely</span> out of her life in some small, subtle way or another.  Maybe I’m over-thinking this, but there’s just something about it that bothers me to no end.  We don’t speak for about a year, and NOW I’m suddenly and conveniently a reliable reference for a job she wants?

If someone puts me down as a reference but doesn’t ask and instead tells me that they did so, they get a s~~~ty reference.
