Had a visit from Power Utility yesterday .. they told me that next month they’ll be removing the power lines that supply electricity to my place. Before that day they will drill a line along road and set up a pad mounted transformer. I asked if he meant trenching .. he said,no .. I mean drilling, no trenches. He said they are doing this because so many poles are often rotting and collapsing due to age and ice load in winter. Some of the oldest poles are still form the 1930’s. So they’re removing them.

He said that they are doing this across the area to get rid of as many old poles as possible .. he said most of my neighbors are also getting the drill across entire area .. instead of putting in all new poles and wires that would eventually come down in the middle of winter.

I wasn’t familiar with the drilling technique so he explained that they will drill from the county road and surface the drill bit somewhere behind my house and garage .. where the new transformer will be sitting on ground.

That connection point on road is over a mile away .. he said they could horizontal drill for several miles .. and then pull a cable through. underground. He said it won’t take long to run the cable.

this drill concept was new to me,
he hinted that life will be much easier for the power utility over the long term, doing it this way
    that’s the main reason

I’ve seen AT&T contractors using what looks like some sort of hydraulic drill to run optical fiber in my area. They don’t have to dig up anybody’s driveway, or the public roads. Leaves BIG puddles of water behind the equipment, to evaporate or soak into the ground.

The change over is a good move. One of the many problems in a natural disaster is that power is out due to downed power lines on pole. Less poles and more underground wires will save lives and money.

Not like there are that many men that can do the job. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN!!!!!

Basically, Underground Power lines save money on labor. There is some power loss through transmission, but that’s complexity acceptable and can be dealt with. Who is really going to cry is the Cable and the Telephone companies. There stuff runs on those lines too, so they may have to do the same.

The just have to Bury the cables deep enough so that tree roots won’t get to them when they fall over, and break the cable. Like it or not, the amount of men that die on the job is pretty high. But the pay is pretty good. But still, lawyers make more an hour so?

You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home
