Oh boy. I have a lot of experience with big mountains – I do not go around saying it or bragging about it at all and never did. I always aim to be polite to men on here but TBH the fact that you want to climb Everest for BRAGGING rights (FFS) is immature/idiotic and absolutely the WRONG reason to climb Everest imho (you are only 27 so it is somewhat understandable so I will let that slide and will give some pointers. Such an attitude in some ways does not currently deserve my advice but since you are currently unprepared (at risk of literally killing yourself) and appear very keen I will give some pointers.)
Also the fact that you are fishing for advice on such a topic on a MGTOW website is in a way a massive sign of your current unpreparedness for this. OP you should give yourself at least 3 years before you do this – I would say 5 years – you can do it in much less but then you may not be able to take care of your life if something goes wrong and even then its to some extent a lottery.
Even for an experienced Mountaineer any +8000 meter peak contains an element of lottery with life and death. I personally know world class mountaineers that have died on Himalayan mountains – you currently have no idea what you are getting yourself into.
It would be better if you are an experienced mountaineer but if not then it would be too dangerous. The reality of the situation is different from the pictures you can see about Mt. Everest…
Correct
I’ve done mt hood, I’ve learned about hypoxia.
You are currently a Tourist. You can do Everest as a Tourist probably 2 years from now or you can learn and become a Mountaineer give it 5 years and know how to look after yourself much better. It will cost you around 30,000 to climb everest either way as you must go with a company – a large part of that fee is the license fee that goes to the government. You could climb 10 large mountains for the same price.
One of the dangers on Everest is the queues on the mountain – as there are many tourist climbers there WILL likely be long waits at high altitude – this waiting around can literally kill you if you lose your ‘weather window’ or cause frost bite as you are not moving.
I’m asking for help how to do this, not asking for judgment. Like, who do I call? where do I go? etc?
Depending on where you live get into mountaineering. If its north america for example you could learn to climb 14000 feet peaks in colorado if its Europe then do a mountaineering course in Norway or in Chamonix/ Alps and Climb Mt Blanc. Find climbing buddies and climb lots of mountains. There is a massive step up toward Himalayan peaks from there.
After that consider Denali (Mt McKinley in Alaska) its is a good peak to learn on and a serious challenge before you even think about Everest. Denali is a 3 to 4 week expedition and serious challenge with cold and is dangerous. Here you will learn whether Everest is something you can handle. Depending on weather conditions and your level of experience either mountain could be relatively easy or ****ing s~~~ storm about to take your life.
because I want to do Something, I’m so sick of sitting around, I’m retired at 30.. I just want to do SOMETHING
If you are serious about mountaineering – read many books on it and learn about EVERYTHING and practice everything and get experience. If you just want to climb it for bragging rights pay your money and go but dont say you were not warned.
There’s a whole lot more to it than just these factors,
YES. Fitness is only about 20% of it.
My advice is make a 3 year plan. If you still want to do it in 3 years go for it!
In the mean time do a series of mountaineering expeditions that get you mentally and phyiscally prepared.
Too many people just going for the glory instafame look at me bulls~~~ these days (not trying to offend you here but let the passion drive you, see it as a challenge to build up to).
I have alot more respect for the guy who puts in the hard work to get the results, not just trying to fast track the experience, after all life is a journey not a destination.
I’ve done a metric s~~~ tonne of rock climbing, but never ventured into the mountaneering side. You need a good head in these environments, and a mature diciplined attitutde. Develop this first.Yes ^
Honestly, can you guys give me advice where to start? Please just let me do this.
Done – okay now you can send me (and Shin) a large fee for the advice (only joking) – thank you and **** you as Carnage says. Good luck – post again and let us know your progress.

(I wrote this before Christopher posted but I will post this anyway to help you out).
You don’t just jump onto Mount Everest without doing some 3000 to 5000 meter peaks first. Mount Everest is a 8848 meter peak you have to train first before attempting it. To understand just how dangerous it is when you climb Everest as you get higher you will start seeing dead bodies from previous expeditions that had people die from various things like weather (#1 killer) to hypothermia, fatigue, various illnesses associated with cold weather including acute mountain sickness once you are above 8000 meter mark.
You can mitigate this by planning ahead and climbing other Mountains to see how your body responds to high elevations. You will have to talk to your doctor and he/she will have to check your heart, lungs, and if you have diabetes forget about it. Here are 7 tips for altitude sickness prevention found here.
You will have to decide which side of the Mountain you want to climb on. There is the north side and the south side with the south being the easier of the two but also the most crowded.
This is one of the many answers you are looking for found here for the north side climb.
Another article on what you will need to do to prepare for this climb found here.
I found this website dedicated to climbers this is a link to there forums.
Sub forum for Asia mountains can be found here.
An account of a British Couple that went on Mount Everest and what you will encounter can be read here.
There are other forums dedicated to climbing I only took a minute to find the one above you will have to do more research.
Finally talk to the people that actually go to Mount Everest and have climbed to the top. Here are a couple of guides I looked up quickly I have not done any research into them that is something you will have to do for yourself. Make sure to look at their success rates and talk to other climbers on various forums who may have used guides with 100% success rate.
Trip 360 degrees contact info at the bottom of page.
RMI Guides (They do the south side of Mount Everest).
You will have to invest a lot of time (as Christopher mentioned think 2 years) and money into this trip and you need to start by taking the time to search on the internet and talk to people by phone or e-mail who have done this climb. You will find out quickly that these climbers have years of experience on other mountains before attempting the summit of Everest. Good luck maybe on day you will be able to help someone else on these forums if you are successful in your climb.
I’m asking for help how to do this, not asking for judgment. Like, who do I call? where do I go? etc?
Ask uncle Google.
The question is…Why are you climbing Mt. Everest? Its a serious endeavor and could cost you your life but its not all its cracked up to be since a lot of people have done it…
Not that I am discouraging you, there is a question of why…It would be better if you are an experienced mountaineer but if not then it would be too dangerous. The reality of the situation is different from the pictures you can see about Mt. Everest…There are just too many bodies you have to traverse around up there now.

When your goal is Everest, can anyone ever get too much practice?

There are two kinds of people who climb Everest, the experts and the ones with money.
I just want to do it, why not? bragging rights right?
Given that litter is now a problem there, it may not have the cachet that it used to.
I’m hearing midlife crisis here.
Oh Damn. I forgot to hit post before I left..
I think everyone here has it pretty well covered.
You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home
Denali (which is a serious challenge itself) would be a good expedition as training and experience to do before Everest. This book below will give you a good initial overview of what is involved for Denali to get you started. The same basic information applies for all expedition style climbing. Peace out.

I think that you are ASKING the WRONG people……
If I wanted to climb Mt. Everest, I would probably START with joining and asking on a mountain climbing forum.

Anonymous0The fact you mentioned you retired at 27 at least four times make me think you’re not. Probably a Trustafarian who moved to PDX.
I’ve climbed every Cascade mountain and Denali and I came home alive every time. Without guides or spending $80K like an Everest summit would cost. Try that, then decide if you could/should climb Everest.

OP repeatedly saying ‘Im going to do it’ and repeatedly asks for advice – then he is given advice by Rhino and the men here and pointed in the right direction and then there is zero response or sign of the OP. Seems flaky already. Maybe he changed his mind or fell into a crevasse.

Climbing / hiking / spending time in the mountains is an awesome way to experience the outdoors and nature.
+8000 meter peaks are much more technical and dangerous and have claimed lives of even very experienced and highly capable mountaineers. This video gives the view from K2 a very dangerous mountain.

Anonymous0I decided a long time ago that I would never summit a mountain that a) needed supplemental oxygen for survive, and b) was outside the USA.
To much to lose on both accounts…
I’m going to climb Mt Everest (no s~~~).
Why?
F~~~ing everyone and their grandma climbs Everest. Do you want to spend a whole day waiting in line behind the fat ass of the first left handed lesbian albino midget eskimo (Sponsored by Nike!) to climb Everest? Because that’s where you’ll find yourself. Burning more and more of your air reserve with every second.
I’m 30 retired at 27, How do I get started?.
You need more money. You may think you have enough money now, but you need more. Trust me on this. And be prepared to spend all the money but never actually get to summit because of the weather, bulls~~~ politics, yak stampedes, entirely justified sherpa strikes, yetis, whatever.
My mind is hell bent on doing this. I’m athletically in shape, I have the funds… Has anyone ever done this? How do I start?.. Yes I’m doing it
Start with other mountains first. By the time you’re “ready for Everest” you’ll understand how pointless it is.
I just want to do it, why not? bragging rights right?
Bragging rights? If you climb to brag, you are Doing It Wrong.
Climb for the sake of climbing.
Also spoiler alert: In mountaineering circles, anyone who brags about summiting Everest is an asshole. They’re like the guy on track day bragging about paying extra for the deluxe blinker fluid he uses in his gold plated X3. Seriously, anyone can summit Everest with enough money and good timing. And have. And that’s the whole problem with Everest climbers. They’re not real mountaineers. They’re just overpaid yuppies with more money than sense. They have no respect for the mountain. They leave garbage f~~~ing everywhere. They’re self centered as f~~~. They have no sense of climbing ethics. No consideration for their fellow climbers. No consideration for anyone else. They are just s~~~ty people in general.
And that’s the other problem with Everest. The weather is generally rotten, especially the wind, and unpredictable as hell and only leaves a few days a year open for any attempt, but weather prediction is still good enough today that everyone at base camp knows the most likely days each year. It used to be that each expedition would make its best guess about the weather and take it’s chances on different days. But now everyone gets the same weather reports, so on the same day your expedition and a whole herd of other s~~~ty people are all waiting in the same line making the same attempt, stepping past the same dead bodies (and not yet dead – did I mention the Everest crowd have no f~~~ing climbing ethics?) and getting in each other’s way. You become just another asshole in a long line of assholes.
Above 8000 meters there are all sorts of ways to die, but Everest is the only peak where the s~~~tyness of other people is one of them. They will literally steal your air if they feel their own bottles are a little light. That’s how worthless they are at Everest.
I’ve done mt hood, I’ve learned about hypoxia.
Pardon me while I shake my head and laugh quietly for a minute.
I’m talking to some Sherpas now.
ProTip: Sherpas are a cunning people. They know an easy mark when they see one.
You need to be talking to some of the professional guiding companies. Be aware they can also be cunning. The good ones will tell you basically what’s I’ve been saying (but more politely).
Go for a wander upto base camp and try snagging one of the smaller peaks. GL
Basic ethics impels me to point out here that the local smaller peaks are in general MUCH more technical climbs than Everest itself. Lohtse is a much more difficult summit, and Nuptse straight up wants to murder you.
I know the dangers,
You might be aware of the dangers, but I don’t believe you actually know them. Not in the bone as it were.
but do you think I should practice more? or just go for it?
Practice more. Really learn the dangers. Learn your gear. Learn everyone else’s gear, too, because you never know… Learn yourself; your limits. Most importantly learn mountaineering best practice and mountain ethics.
Most deaths happen after summiting. If you summit and die, it doesn’t count. If you summit but don’t make it back down to base on your own power, it doesn’t count. Living to climb another day is winning. Summiting is just an extra bonus. Everyone knows Sherpa Tenzing Norgay was the first man to summit Everest; Hillary was just just another load he packed up with him.
Finally, I’ve mentioned that Everest climbers are all assholes. That’s not entirely true. There have been a few non-assholes. They are the ones who abandon their own summit attempts to rescue other climbers in trouble. Google Dan Mazur. He is a Mountain God.
Also, if you really want to earn respect and bragging rights on Everest, do this: Hang around at base camp. Head up to camp 4 at the highest if you insist on getting “Death Zone Cred”. Don’t even bother with summiting. F~~~ the summit. Once you’ve made camp 4, the top is really just a long walk (or wait) queued up in a giant herd of assholes. Bring trash bags. Pack trash down. That is far more hardcore than summiting. Thousands have reached the summit. Hardly anyone has carried garbage back down with them.
You will be as one unto the Mountain Gods. You will earn instant respect from other climbers (though maybe not from the tourists around you on Everest – but then they are s~~~ty people after all and their opinions don’t matter). Most importantly, the Sherpas will f~~~ing love your ass for it, and their opinions do matter.
