Too bad they can’t sell Illinois to the Chinese.

Man that would suck to live in one of those neighboring states and have to absorb part of Illinois.

So what will happen to the Bears, Bulls, and Cubs?? F~~~ Illinois. And when they ask Trump for help, Trump should NOT bail them out. That will teach them for voting democrat. I bet they won’t do that again

Sooner or later the creditors will always come to collect what you owe.

Never mind holding and then first going after the “little folks” to pay for the Governments’ financial and political malfeasance.
Seize the assets of the officials who created the mess first, invoke austerity measures, then create and STAY withing a reasonable budget.
Passing the problem onto other states to handle doesn’t fix the problem, it only adds to the burden of other people/states because the parasites feeding off the State largess of taxpayers money will only migrate to the next host.

As an individual, I am held 100% responsible for my financial obligations. If I declare bankruptcy, all my assets will be seized and sold in order to pay as much debt off initially, then austerity measures imposed by my creditors/Government to ensure everyone gets their cut.
    Nobody bails my ass out.
The exact same should be expected and demanded of Governments and companies who “fold”.

There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it

Industry and Entertainment will continue making the money on this issue with the Sports Entertainment side making motions of leaving Chicago/Illinois. There are too many towns that want a professional sports franchise of their own for serious negotiations not to begin.

St Louis, Oklahoma City or Indianapolis could be a home for the Bears.

Louisville could certainly host the Cubs and remain with the regional broadcast market. While adjacent to the market, Memphis or Nashville could also offer a baseball home. Going out of market would allow the White Soxs to go to Charlotte but still be geographically close to Chicago.

Las Vegas, Portland OR or San Antonio would be happy to have as many professional sports teams as either could get. The Bulls or Blackhawks, either sport would not need a huge footprint to make the move financially viable.

Regarding the legality of Illinois filing for bankruptcy, this would be decided at the Supreme Court and take many years to resolve. Puerto Rico is the example of what would happen and Congress would not have an easy time of passing any legislation.

Having said this, the chance of the Federal Government bailing out Illinois remains slim to none. You can also look at Connecticut, Kentucky, New Jersey and Massachusetts as being in crisis as well.

    I can vouch for that!

Please no. Louisville has enough to deal with already. LOL

If the Cubs move to Alabama, we can turn that team into a Super Bowl contender in two years. Just pump it full of players from Alabama, Auburn, and Troy University. We breed football players around here.

Just raising the point MW that Sports Entertainment always has options where Joe citizen does not.

I would not want anything in Louisville either, but money goes where there is more money to be made.

D.C. has been trying to get annexed for years and no state wants that s~~~ hole. I doubt any state wants Illinois. That’s like marrying an AWALT with millions in debt.

So Wisconsin would get Chicago? Poor Wisconsin. As soon as they did, I would leave that state as well. Who wants to live in a state over run by Chicago politicians?

Yeah, and they’d rename it South Milwaukee.
