So I’ve made it to Panama City, Florida to visit my older brother and his family… this afternoon was the first time he and I have had a chance to talk alone and of course, he had to sound out my political views.
I lived in San Francisco for 14 years so everyone in my family thinks I’m a libtard gaywad but I’m actually a discordian and so can argue any side. My brother is a Trump fan but he’s not particularly introspective so I prepared a line of thought for the inevitable challenge he would present.
When that challenge came, I directed the discussion to “why the Democrats lost”, gave the obvious answers and then said the following:
Me: “But what if they’d won… aside from us being in a shooting war with Russia right now, do you know what the liberal progressive world view actually is?”
Him: <something about Obamacare and the pay gap>
Me: “Not exactly. You see, liberal progressives believe that we can be perfected as human beings. They believe that it’s not enough for us to maintain peace through strength, produce wealth through self-interest interactions in a free market and tolerate those who hold ideas different from us… they believe we should be peaceful without strength, distribute resources based on need and embrace all thoughts as being equally good and valuable… that we can, should and MUST do the ‘right thing’ for the ‘right reasons’… or die.”
Him: “But who would get to decide what the right thing and right reasons are?”
Me: “Them, of course. They believe they are morally superior to us and that they’re going to make us right or destroy us.”
Him: “But that’s… that’s…”
Me: “Socialism? Fascism? A dictatorship?”
Him: “Worse.”
Me: “Exactly. Democrats won’t tell you what their vision for America is because in there vision, there IS NO AMERICA. They would dismantle our borders and give the rights and privileges of citizenship to anyone who steps foot on our soil. They would take away your guns and your right to defend yourself. They would dismantle the police and courts as we know it and replace it with ‘community law’. They would take every penny of wealth you produce and give it to themselves until there was not a soul left willing to produce anything.”
“Whatever President Trump does in office is irrelevant. His election alone stopped this nation from being literally handed over to people who actively desire to destroy it. And the Democrats have learned nothing. In four years they’ll run more of the same. In 8 years they’ll do it again. Maybe in 12 years they’ll start wondering what’s going on and by 2032 they’ll maybe come up with a new plan that works better than trying to shame, deplatform, disemploy and destroy the lives of anyone who disagrees with them.”
“Oh, and we’d be in a shooting war with Russia. Right this very minute. You wouldn’t be watching basketball, you’d be watching your son suiting up for boot camp.”
“So if you want to talk politics, I’m fine with that… but open your eyes, read Thomas Sowell’s _A Conflict of Visions_ and tell that fat nagging wife of yours that YOU wear the pants in this house.”
Actually I didn’t say the last part but I thought it real loud. Aren’t family visits fun?
