Anonymous7Here in the States you are allowed to request a free Credit report from the Big 3 once a year.
Please do not get this confused with a Credit Score. For the U.K. and Australia I bet you have something similar. Chime in if you wish.
A Credit Score is an indication of how much and how well/timely you pay Interest. And unless you are looking to finance something it is useless IMO.
A Credit Report tells you past (up to 15 years, I think) and present which entities you have/do owe money to. Also, your payment history. On time, late, delinquent, etc…
A Credit Report is a good way to know if someone has stolen your identity and borrowed money in your name….
There are the big three, Experian, Trans Union and Equifax. There are three and there are 12 months so, every 4 months I hit one (rotate) to get a report.
I look for new s~~~ that I have no knowledge of. I have not found anything yet but better safe than sorry.
In fact in my E-Calendar I setup reminders.
There is a Fed sponsored site that helps with this. I am not going to paste a link for fear of looking like shifty motherf~~~er.
Do your own research. Do not pm me either. If you do your research you will find a .gov site that will point you to the easy way. Or the site of any of the big three.

However, I have siblings and assorted family that know my info (I didn’t share it).True story:
A couple of decades ago my junkie brother got pulled over, he had warrants for his arrest. He explained to the cop that he had no ID. He gave the cop my name and SSN. Of course he knew my SSN, it was stored in a box in the closet. The cop finger printed him and let him go.Later, I had a warrant for my arrest, it came in the mail.
I had to take a day off from work, go down to the police station and get finger printed. A finger print geek later informed the po-po that I was not the guilty one.
Do not take this s~~~ lightly.

Part of its measurement is on-time payments, but has nothing to do with interest. I use my credit cards to pay for everything and have auto-pay set up on all of them to pay off the entire balance each month, claiming my rewards while paying $0 in interest.
Using Credit Karma will give you free weekly updates from two of the three major credit bureaus (Trans Union and Equifax). If nothing unusual is showing up in either of those, you should be golden. It used to just be Trans Union and expanded to include Equifax, so maybe it will include Experian in the future.
I’ve been happy with their website and app for years. No complaints.
Also, your credit score can be used against you on more than just applications for loans. It can be used in the hiring process by prospective employers and also landlords if you’re looking to rent.
It’s a good idea to keep your credit score healthy at all times, just in case you need it.

Loan -> Payment on time until paid off -> Interest.
Loan -> Payment not on time -> No Interest on Time.

At one time I had a super high Credit Score, idk what it is now. But at one time I borrowed money and made my payments religiously.
I have not paid interest in decades but I suspect my ‘credit score’ is s~~~ b/c of it.

No one is spinning anything. I pay $0 in interest for years yet have on-time payments on 5 credit cards for the same time period. My scores average a little over 800 (will improve after a couple hard inquiries drop off this spring).
I understand that for many people and credit situations there may be interest involved, but I’m living proof that you need pay NO interest and can still have a stellar credit rating.

B/C you are disciplined enough to not pay interest doesn’t mean the scam is not real.I have a cash-back card that I payoff every other week. No interest, cash back on s~~~ I buy.

I renewed the Texas license and took
custody of that legal person in the spirit

Identity theft is the largest world wide government
instituted scam.I do not own nor do I desire to own
anything on this earth period.Not even my own private identity or flesh.
They may Keep the identity and the publicly
created debt they attached to it.They lead me to falsely believe My identity documents
correctly identified me and I owned exclusive rights
to the use of said identity document.The SSN assigned by the social security administration
belongs to the government agency that issued the number
and card. I cannot own something unless given exclusive
authority over its use. The authority to exclude anyone and everyone from regulating, controlling or making mandatory its disclosure.Sorry but Identity theft is a touchy subject with me
when I refuse to borrow or create debt for many years

Apart from that it’s not something I worry about much, we are protected by the vendor if the theft is via our bank account/credit cards. However if I was worth serious money I’d think about identity theft protection (insurance).
An extension was put on me last year to continue wich i will be contacted at a further time .
