Well, I took the red pill and bought a new bike from Dick’s Sporting Goods. It’s a GT Aggressor, 19″ frame, GUN METAL color. I had the salesman assemble it in the store for free and we had a nice conversation about movies and video games which was cool. I got it 50% off, plus 2-year warranty for $350.
Getting it in my car was a major pain in the ass. It wouldn’t fit in my back seat, and it was stuck to the point I had to force it out. Then I put it in my trunk, leaving the trunk half open. Luckily it was only 7 or so miles.
Hopefully, I get good performance out of it, because in the past, my mom would buy me cheap Wal-Mart bikes and they’re not built to last. But I got this one at a better store and a better brand name; so it should be much better.
Here is the bike, click GUN METAL to see which one I got:

Heck ya that’s better than a Wal-mart special.
Great Deal!

I went biking earlier today — lots of fun. Have you thought about getting a bike rack for the car? It’s a lot easier than popping front wheel off & putting in trunk & it avoids beating up the vehicle. This way I can take the bike to places with paths. You can get either a rack that is removable, or a permanent.
I also like the garage wall racks, but I haven’t bought one of those.
I have a Bontrager bike, not bad — even a few hundred bucks buys a halfway decent bicycle.
Looks good in Gunmetal. I still have my GT BMX from 20 years ago. They are great bikes.
Your 20's are for learning, your 30's are for earning.

I don’t need one. There’s the Illinois Prairie Path less than a mile from my house. I do that. I go for about 2 – 2 1/2 hours a day. Where I live there’s a lot of bike riding.
Next thing I buy for it is an analog speedometer. I like the kind with the needle gauge, not the digital numbers.

Good for you , I remember my Sister was bought a new bike , as a male of course I was bought a second hand one.
Cool buy, man.
Bikes used to be one my hobbies. I was into them like crazy for decades. I’ve built quite a few bikes, including a really expensive one with “exotic” parts. Have fun ! That bike should last you quite a while.
I’ve already bought my first bike accessory on eBay; a bike speedometer, analog.

They never seem to fit in a car correctly, might want to get a rack for trips… but congrats! I hope you ride the wheels off of it!
No longer can we walk away, we must run. Remove the motive power.
