So I live in dorms with hundreds of other students (some are med students, some are nursing, etc.) We have a 65%-35% female to male mix.

Anyways, the dorm has 5 washing machines and 5 dryers at the bottom floor. The nearest laundromat is 3 miles away and I don’t have a car, so it makes sense to use the dorm’s facilities (plus they’re much cheaper).

So I had finished washing all my clothes, and I was waiting for a dryer to open up. The rule is that if noone picks up their clothes from the dryer within 10 minutes of the dryer cycle ending, you can go ahead and remove their clothes and put yours in.

Well, I waited around for 10 minutes. there were 3 dryers that were not running but had clothes in them. 2 had female clothes (I saw bras and lots of pink) and one had a man’s clothes.

I removed the man’s clothes and dumped them on the nearby table.

And I hate this because the female dryers were much easier to access, but in this university setting, anything can be interpreted as sexual harassment. If I was found to be holding a girl’s panties/bra, I’d be suspended, expelled, blacklisted…I can just see the headlines now “Student fondles woman’s clothes in laundry room.”

Gah, MGTOW. Talk to me. How do I resolve this conflict?

No shame in taking logical steps to protect yourself in an illogical society. You successfully subverted any power they might otherwise have had over you, that’s something to be proud of imo.

You did the right thing. You protected yourself from a potential f~~~-over, and that’s what matters. Besides, you did follow the rules even when removing the mans’ clothing.

Personally, I wouldn’t be caught dead holding a females’ undergarments for any reason. Too easy to get labeled a creep, not that I give a f~~~ about labeling, but, as you already stated, that situation can be escalated quickly into false allegations.

Protecting yourself- ask (if a girl is present) for her courtesy to remove said female clothes from dryers.
Removing a man’s clothes is acceptable.
If said man is gay, instant connection! Hahaha!

You live in the lion’s den with a steak dangling around your genitalia. I do not blame you for not handling the clothes of the females.

I would advise becoming a commuter as soon as possible for the sole reason of risk aversion.

On the present course of how society & the laws are, you already have as much resolution in this case, anyone could hope for.
As the prior comments have already stated, I too, in that situation, would have done the exact same thing.

And, if any time a female is in there, getting her clothes, you may want to make sure she never sees you even glance at her or her under garments, seems eye sexual harassment & assault by kissing is now an issue as well.

Start a petition saying you want seperate dryers for men, females and others. Claim you don’t want creepy females and trans touching your underwear.

Strike them first before they strike you.

Just kidding. You did the right thing. Avoid c~~~s at all cost. Hell, I probably would have went accross town just to not deal with that bulls~~~.

I agree with all the above. Self-protection is your first duty.

Dude you did the right thing. The absolute right thing.

I once had to investigate a scenario where a child protection officer was accused of just that, fondling bras while wandering through a department store supervising a junkie’s access to her kids. The accusation came, of course, from the junkie.

We put it to the guy and when he’d calmed down he challenged us to get the security tapes from the department store.

Unless you have a badge that’s rather a difficult thing to do, but based on everything in front of us I called bulls~~~ on the accusation. My supervisor, a woman who’d been through the ringer herself on something similar (that I won’t discuss here), agreed, and the guy got an apology (from me, anyway).

He was starting a government job the next week – that could have destroyed his career. You simply cannot be too careful.

I absolutely hate it that those females think they can leave their clothes in the dryer for as long as they want assuming no guy will empty the machine.
You pay tuition and deserve to use facilities just as much as them.

You did the best you could in that scenario, I think most of us would have done the same.

I absolutely hate it that those females think they can leave their clothes in the dryer for as long as they want knowing no guy will dare empty the machine.Yes, self protection is paramount, but there might be a way to resolve this and maintain your defense.Go to the grocery store and buy yourself a pair of those bright flourescent yellow dish washing gloves. They sell them in extra large for guys. They go over half way to the elbows. On the way out of the store get a two dollar pair of tongs for grilling. You can usually find tongs over eighteen inches long. In the chemistry department of every college they sell chem splash goggles for cost (about a dollar) pick up a pair at the chemistry stock room.Carry the yellow gloves and tongs and goggles with you next time you wash your clothes. If those femalez leave their clothes in that dryer one second past the ten minute mark, put on your goggles, elbow length yellow gloves and yank those clothes out of that dryer and onto the table with your massive grilling tongs.…if anyone sees you or snaps a picture, you’ll look like a guy dressed for handling biohazard.

which wouldn’t be far off considering not even the strongest detergent can cleanse the types of diseases these bitches have

I say we take one panty from every female dryer that goes over 10 min and string them together and call it the female bonds that keep men from doing their laundry. Make a big long string that runs around campus.

Kinda performance art like mattress girl but with panties.

Scary how times have changed. I was pulling s~~~ out of dryers and washers regardless of what gender they belonged to … no more than mere 3 years ago.

Wish I had known then, I would be like, “Fembots are COMING! Runnnn”

You can always type & print a note saying, “Please remove your clothes. I need to put my load in. You just make it so hard. It’s ok if its wet, but you can’t just leave it dry like that. My boy Steve suggested to just take it out, but I would rather see you do it so I can put mine in. For future consideration only. I already came twice and I didn’t notice yours was even wet. It only stays wet for a while but once the shaking stops you have to take it out again and remember to turn the heat up before you put it in again. In the dryer. Thank you :-)”

Legally, you should be safe. I think.

Lol that is really funny if you think about it outside the context of a washer-dryer problem 😛 Not sure if this is intentional.

Thanks everyone for the support. Made me feel better :D.

Sometimes, you just have to let certain things slide.
Imagine you go camping, you don’t have any weapon, then a bear come and takes your food.

You let the beast take the damn thing.

No point risking a lot for something that’s not worth a lot at all.

It is a common failing of childhood to think that if one makes a hero out of a demon the demon will be satisfied.
