If you can get micro-fiber cloths to work satisfactorily .. I’d sure like to know how? It feels much safer using soft cotton on fragile or clearcoat surfaces. Unlike a damp cotton cloth, microfiber also seems scratch prone.

I’ve done exactly what I’m supposed to do with microfiber .. I wash them and dry them first. I still can’t stand them. I don’t even like touching them. They feel creepy and they don’t get anything totally clean like old soft cotton fiber no matter what direction manual I follow.

I bought a bunch and have thrown away or given away every one.
I’m now back to using good old soft worn out cotton t-shirts for waxing and buffing the vehicles,
washing windows and surfaces and gentle cleaning of computer screens, etc.

    Have great day.

I’ll agree with you on the scratching — I’ve found that MF cloths are more likely to scratch surfaces (especially clear coats) than clean cotton.

I quite like them, but I understand what you mean about the “creepy” feeling. I think it might be the brand, because there is a little difference – I think.

When they are new, they leave little b~~~~ of fluff (and even TINY fibers on glass) which I noticed more than any scratching.

I usually use cotton diaper rags on my car (and always wash it myself). They have them at the hardware store in bunches and they last forever. I use Microfiber cloths for the polish / finish. The diaper rags for drying.

On glass, I just use newspaper + vinegar because it’s the best way to clean glass.
Preferably the New York Times. Fake News gets glass cleaner.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.
