Hypergamy: Natural or Socially Induced?

I wonder if hypergamy is a biological prerogative for women, or if this is socially indoctrinated, or a bit of both? I thought this topic would be a good one for us MGTOWs to tackle. I personally think it would be a combination of both. Here is my reasoning:
Most animals in the animal kingdom seldom pair bond for life (monogamy). Some rare exceptions include Emperor Penguins, Grey Wolves, Eagles, Beavers, and Swans. Most animals in the Kingdom don’t settle with one partner. So, it would seem that our biological self would deem polygamy to be the “natural” mating paradigm. Conversely, with the current indoctrination of the masses via 3rd wave feminism , the hookup culture is more pervasive as ever. This has created a normalization of this debauchery, hedonism, and narcissism. This very culture threatens to uproot the traditional western ideals such as marriage, and quite frankly has made marriage invalid. I have concluded that this combination of biological imperative and new culture trends are what have created a bunch of self-entitled, hypergamous c~~~s. Idk, I just wanted to get the MGTOW community opinions and thoughts of the basal roots of hypergamy?

This can be an interesting topic to kick around, but as long as one is educated about what Hypergamy IS, it really doesn’t matter if it’s biological, societal, or a combination.

I’m also with a little bit of both. Women had an incredibly difficult time marrying up because of the dowery system. Thereby putting a check on it.

If cupcake want to marry the local rich merchant, or fuedal lord? Good luck daddy’s got to put down a fat stack of cash commensurate with the man’s social value.

So a small business man who has a daughter that dreams of marrying Mr. Dreamy. Dad will laugh in her face and say she might as well want to grow wings and fly to the moon.

I think a confirmed bachelor would have an easier time as well. He’d be busy making money. Or traveling and selling finished products around the neighboring regions. Or serving as a man at arms, or educated professional scribe/ tutor.

I understood the concept “Hypergamy” – and noticed it as early as 18… but I didn’t know the word for it until I was over 40. I imagine women don’t either. So in that way, they are hypergamous to at least a certain degree without knowing it.

I knew what it was like to drive a girlfriend around in my first s~~~box car ( a Nissan 240 SX) and have her notice the car next to us at a red light is a Ferrari … while she copped a glance at the driver.

The other day, I read a post from another member about how he was out at a restaurant and noticed a girl was checking him out while she appeared to be totally into her boyfriend, rubbing his shoulders an all of that. … and over the years, I have also been eye-f~~~ed in passing by a girl holding her boyfriend’s hand, or out with her date.

Far more attached/married women have flirted with me than single ones, but I also think they do it “because they can”, and not necessarily because they’re going to act on it.

What a relief it was to discover there is one word for it, and I agree it doesn’t matter. But as @itsallbs pointed out, it’s encouraged and defended by society and the manginas.

The 1993 film “Indecent Proposal” (Robert Redford / Demi Moore / Woody Harelson ) is a perfect example of Hypergamy illustrated … except the word is not used or mentioned even once. Robert Redford is FULLY aware of his power/money/status as an aphrodisiac to women and so is Woody.

Redford exploits her hypergamy with a confident smile, knows how it will play out, and the score.

Yes, and as conscious life in this planet each person is somewhat aware of complex outcomes to actions.

When benevolence between neighbors is evident. A majority of individuals want a lot of laughing kids running around. As well as those kids growing up into honorable people.

That’s a point where compromise and discipline override horniness. Because long term peace is evident based on those decisions.

Now, long term peace isn’t assured. The laws change from one decade to the next. Cultural standards are also changing relatively quickly.

Some people aren’t taking a stand internally one way or another. So those individuals will take the most expedient path to instant gratification. They end up.f~~~ing other people over. Then saying stuff like “It’s all relative man. You should have been more vigilant. Charge it to the game.”

I completely agree. People who don’t have any goals/aspirations themselves will succumb to complacency. These become people who aren’t willing to put in the effort to reach where they wish to be. I think it’s natural, and I think you could argue that men are similar when it comes to looks, however it simply doesn’t hold water over time.

Say a man and woman are attracted to each other. She is attractive while he has power. Both meeting each other’s needs. After years of marriage, consider 2 alternate paths.

1 – He losses his power but she is still relatively attractive. She no longer finds him attractive. She will claim she fell out of love with him.

2 – She looses her looks, but he still has power. He doesn’t have the same attraction for her, but he stays out of his love and commitment to her. He feels responsible for her happiness and well being. With rare exceptions, the only reason he leaves her is when she drives him to severe unhappiness.

I’d like to say it’s about the natural order of things. Man -> Woman -> Child -> Dog. Love goes down the chain, but never up…but that simply isn’t true. Child loves his parents unconditionally. The Dog loves everyone. The woman loves the Child and the Dog, but not the man.

If there is a part that isn’t natural, that is perhaps society trained, it’s that the woman never loves the man. Initial, attraction is selective, needs based, but why doesn’t a woman’s desires turn to love?
