@snake, you are absolutely correct it’s not pedophilia by definition. Whatever the Oxford or Webster says is great, and believe me, I’m as open minded as anyone about the age of consent. This is a clear case of statutory rape, also she bought them alcohol “contributing to the delinquency of a minor” another serious charge. The bitch committed rape she deserves the same punishment as anyone else. I’ve seen men catch 5years for statutory off rip, she needs to be sentenced to prison not absolved of guilt.

I fall more on Snake’s side on this issue, though I have no interest in getting into any shaming one way or the other.  I want equal treatment for both men and women in this regard.  I don’t think our laws should be treating pedophilia, rape, and under age of consent sex as the same thing.  They are 3 different things with 3 different motivations and 3 different sets of damages.  It’s stupid to treat them all the same.  And just because the law and majority of society is stupid, doesn’t mean I have to be.

For this case, it’s not pedophilia or rape…it’s under age of consent.  30 months in prison seems more then enough time.  I wouldn’t want my tax money to pay for any more then that.  As far as registering as a sex offender, well, I wouldn’t want her working with teenagers again, but I’m not the least bit worried about her working with children.  I’m be fine with 5 years on the sex offender list or something like that.

And yes, I see this the same for both male and female offenders.  If the roles were reversed, I’d see it the same way.

And I understand that a 15 year will likely know what they’re doing at this point, but they are still a minor, and consent should be given by guardians in that case.  Honestly, if the woman had gotten consent to provide alcohol and have sex with the kid from his parents, I don’t think of it as a crime committed at all.  It’s probably bad parenting, but bad parenting isn’t a crime.   I know that isn’t the current law, but that’s how I see it.

I respect the opinion that the law is the law, and it calls for 30 years then that’s what she should get.  Nothing wrong with that logic, particularly wanting equal treatment for men and women.  I’m not going to go lobbying for any change.  However, I still will take a different viewpoint then the law when I don’t think the law is correct.
