‘This was a knee-jerk reaction and won’t serve #MeToo well.’ Former PBS journalist, 72, sues for wrongful termination and sex discrimination after he was fired for looking at a picture of Meghan Markle and mumbling ‘not bad’

Journalist Hugh Heckman, 72, is suing PBS Newshour for wrongful termination after he was fired on November 27, 2017
In court documents obtained by DailyMail.com, Heckman claims his comment about Meghan Markle was ‘an innocently intended remark’
Heckman was ‘viewing a picture of the Duchess with another male employee. Plaintiff said “not bad” to his co-worker in a low tone of voice,’ papers read
The suit states two female employees heard his comment and one said, ‘haven’t you learned?’ in a ‘disparaging tone’
Heckman was fired two days later
His attorney Jillian T. Weiss told DailyMail.com: ‘It makes real cases of sexual harassment look frivolous.’

——————-This has to be the ultimate metoo firing. Looking at a picture,….now I do question the man’s taste in women, but that is beside the point……and mumbling not bad. Hope his legal team rips pbs a new one. Would like to see them taken down more then a few notches.

They were looking for a reason to fire him BECAUSE OF HIS AGE. They jumped the gun and now they’re going to pay. Hope he bleeds them dry and destroys them in the process. Assholes.

Idiots. If he said: ” Shes a hypergamous gold digger circling the wall(quite accurate if you ask me) and I wouldn’t touch her with your dick” he would also have been fired. I got my ass canned last year after solid performance for over a decade by some simp 18 years my junior. Clear age discrimination and all I got was a kick in the ass out the door. Hope this old bloke cashes in good.

And somehow the c~~~s that over heard him knew that his comment was aimed at her looks, t~~~ or whatever? He could have been commenting on her dress, the quality of the photo or whatever.
Keep it up ladies and it will get to a point where no one will even consider looking at your resume let alone hiring you. Then you can get back into the kitchen and start feeding your cats again.

Feminism isn't about equality with men, it's about leverage over men.

And when that happens they’ll bitch about ” no men talk to me at work and I wore this low cut top but no one noticed me”. No matter what you do, you’re in the s~~~ zone.

Yes, we have learned. It is not safe to have Females in the Workplace. Anything you say can and will be taken out of context to get you fired. When your company goes under because all your best employees were taken down by gossiping harpies. They will have to learn.

Women fail the risk reward analysis required for successful business models.

Its going to have to be a male only workplace.

    Thanks #METOO.

I hope he gets millions. Maybe then they’ll learn to stop hiring these time bombs of misery that are only looking for their chance to explode and cost someone their job and the people they work for even more than that.

That was my first thought as well, he’s 72 they were just waiting for some reason to boot him. #metoo was weaponized to get him out the women were just the useful idiots.

I hope he does as well.

They are ahead of you – ignoring or avoiding them, or even simply failing to interact with them has already been declared to be passive aggression.

It’s now a common management technique – something similar happened at one place I was at.

A senior member of staff (female in this case), coming up to retirement (redundancy with a substantial payout was an option she was considering), was accused of ‘upsetting’ a snowflake millennial. They fired her, and as a result she lost everything.

I can’t see management doing this anywhere. Any bean counter would have told them the retirement payout would be less then the legal action that would take place soon after a firing like that or in this pbs case. No jury is going to favor the company position, pbs will be made an example of with a large settlement or verdict a smaller company would get its accounts ripped open and end up going under.

I’m in the UK, and it’s now common practice. Claims against former employers go to government tribunals (there’s no jury), and rarely succeed.
