We’ve talked a lot about competent men in intense jobs (firefighting, police work) who end up being let go to make way for female employees. Quite often those same women will then stay in that role for who only a few years before being attacked by baby rabies.

Was just wondering if you’ve ever been sacked from a job for a really dumb or unfair reason? If yes what was it? And did you do anything about it, or just file it under lesson learned?

I worked in a bakery for about two months when I was 17. Shortest job I ever had. Manager who resided there was a quite a character. I was frequently yelled at over trivial matters when I hadn’t even been there a week, and later given the ludicrous job of training a new employee within a fortnight of my arrival, only eight days days of which I’d actually spent there myself (I was a part-timer).

When I was later fired for taking my lunch break despite the assistant supervisor telling me that it was okay, I should have kicked up a fuss, but was glad to see the back of it.

Not exactly, but I was once let go because of a death of a key company figure after many years of service. Very brutal and unethical and I didn’t deserve it. They did it to screw me back after I didn’t put up with some inappropriate treatment.

As a rule, I don’t “tease” people or mock them , and I don’t react well to it either… but people do this to each other and I hate it. So when someone does it to me, I can be very quick witted and will often make them feel stupid in front of others.

This asshole company lawyer thought it would be fun to joke with me, and I gave him a good jab and one-upped him in front of everyone and it really p~~~ed him off. They didn’t exactly “fire” me… but it was the same kind of thing.

I’m a terrible politician and some people don’t react well you refuse to kneel behind them and lick their butts.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

They wanted to but realized they were going to be in legal trouble if they did. They very grudgingly let me leave on my terms. It’s funny what a polite email from my attorney does. Attitudes changed overnight. It was the first and only time I enjoyed making my boss miserable. Lol

I wish I could meet more people like that. I’ve ended up in a couple of jobs where higher powers often acted illegally as well as unethically. One place that I used to work for somehow managed to stay in business for more than a decade despite repeatedly screwing over a regional manager. I felt sorry for him but he chose to stay in that position, and it’s hard to root too much for people who remain in their fixes voluntarily. Of course my current job is not as bad, but it was surprising to find out how many others got away with their calls.

I got fired from working at one of the football arenas because I went to the hockey arena to buy tickets for WWE, I wasn’t in uniform, or on company time, but I was with a friend who shifted between working with me at the football arena, and at the hockey arena. We bought our tickets, and he had me go with him around the side.

Security let us inside the arena without checking credentials. My friend knew everyone who worked there. Even waved to at first, and then later started chatting up the security guard. Since we were killing time before our shift, we went about chatting up some workers we knew. Meanwhile we had the occasional interaction with a few of the wrestlers. Then at one point, staff came with management and took us in the office and said they’d gotten complaints we were harassing the wrestlers (which was untrue, since they had been coming up actively talking to us).

We told our story, had witnesses, but they decided to suspend us pending an “investigation”. I should have protested given that they had no authority to suspend me since I didn’t work the hockey arena. They claimed all this stuff about us and said they’d do an investigation which I knew they wouldn’t and even said they called ahead to the football arena to notify our bosses about what happened. I knew it was bulls~~~. The security didn’t check us, we didn’t use company credentials to get in, we weren’t in company uniform (street clothes), and we weren’t on company time. We didn’t have to be to the football arena for another 2hrs.

I knew it was bulls~~~, so I immediately went and got hired somewhere else. They called me up like a day or two later and asked us to come down. So I did.. With the company shirt. They called us in (escorted actually) and said we were being fired. I said “actually, I’ve already quit. I have another job, I just came here to give you your shirt back”. After that I walked out.

The company offered me some cash to make me go away but I refused. It was not about money. It was the principle of the situation. They eventually went under for the same offense. Some places never learn. Smh

I was working for a company that had contracts with several venues. But I only worked specifically at the football arena. My friend was already working at the hockey arena when he applied at the football arena, so he’d work x amunt of hours at the football arena before he had to be at the hockey arena (when you’re living with a welfare queen with a kid, that you’re not married to, you gotta make that money lol). We where scheduled to work at the football arena that afternoon. So since we had time, we went to the hockey arena to get our tickets. While we were chatting up coworkers he knew, management at the arena went and got HR to come over. That’s when they called us in the office.

Ah I see. Still pretty dirty though.

Amen to that! Thanks for sharing. What’d she have to say about the revelation? Or did you give her a different story?

Yep, day after my 21st birthday.

I worked at a grocery store through college and transferred back to home city each summer. (Part of a 100 store chain) The new store manager hated me because I made twice as much money as the other pleebs. (Nicknamed me lightening because for what he paid me I’d better be that fast) Plus, the corporate office had forced him to allow me to transfer to his store for summer (part of college program s~~~).

Anyway, I scheduled my birthday off and he denied it. He told me if I didn’t come to work he’d fire me.

I didn’t come to work and the next day he took me in his office and fired me. He also made sure that the corporation put a do not hire on me so that I couldn’t work at college store after the summer.

I will always remember sitting in his office and seeing the fire in his self righteous eyes. He was so happy to destroy me. He was giddy with it.

I got a loan for my last year of college. He motivated me to work twice as hard studying in my last year. That allowed me to succeed.

After graduation, I soared and worked at Lockheed, Boeing, etc. I worked on s~~~ that he couldn’t even imagine.

From time to time I went back home on holidays and such to visit family. I always paid a visit to that grocery store. I would see him but he didn’t remember me. I would strike up conversations with him.

Funny how life is. He turned out to be a miserable piece of s~~~ in a run down grocery store keeping people down. All he did was keep himself down.

    Peace brothers

I lost a large contract over a little Nazi grounds keeper with an ego and beyond that of Hitler!

He took one of our employees on company time to run off and collect wrappers and debris that were cleaned up twice a day anyway, once before lunch and again at the end of the day.

This know-it-all that I watched crush a chainsaw bar by undercutting upward on large limb, pinched his saw and took him the greater part of the day to get it out.

    Anyway,

I told him to go f~~~ himself good and proper instead of decking him for his NAZI takeover of my business and cou’de tat, he’s running things! I wanted to flatten him so f~~~ing bad!

I was there more than a month dealing with this little power trip weasel Nazi with the key ring, beeper, and radio, taking command of my business like that was the last f~~~ing straw!

Good thing my brother was there to chill me out!

P.S. The employees were being paid by the amount they laid (piece work) I had to compensate him for his time and told him he did nothing wrong by not creating any waves, that was MY F~~~ING JOB!

Yes, I had a summer job during school where I delivered wholesale parts for Auto Body Shops. I drove a van and made daily rounds delivering everything from Dodge and Chrysler emblems to complete hoods and bumpers. We also delivered engines and just about everything to rebuild vehicles.
My supervisor was a mixed up person who always wanted to make everyone else look bad on the job.
I was never ever told that it was my responsibility, my job description, to notify those who “walked-in” to order parts that their items had arrived .. this was to be done by sending out a postal card or if that failed, call them by phone. I never heard of this as part of my duties. I thought the office took care of this.
Several weeks in to my summer job the owner of the business came in and said people were calling and asking about parts they had ordered. I guess I got the blame for not notifying them .. even though I’d never heard of this part of my job.
That same supervisor had done this to the past two guys who had my job. It was a way to get rid of everyone and anyone who might be future competition in the workplace.
I liked that summer job, and I actually made it for three months .. I didn’t actually get forced out because I did my job well with exception of that notification prank played by my Boss; but, I quit a couple weeks early with only one day notice just to make the supervisor have to take over my delivery route for a couple of weeks .. to pay them back .. until they could find another victim to play around with. My insane boss on that job just wanted everyone else who was recently hired, to look bad, and eventually leave.

I was fired from a security job when I was 21.
I was patrolling grounds when the babysitter called and said my child was very sick and she couldn’t reach my X. She couldn’t bring my girl to the hospital because at least one parent had to be there.
I called my supervisor for relief at least 5 times, for 3 hours, and he kept saying someone was on the way. Meanwhile the babysitter kept calling, X was at a Tupperware party, unreachable, my girl wasn’t getting better.
I finally had enough and told my supervisor I’m leaving the key to the building under the mat and I’m gone. He said “You can’t do that!” I said watch me.
When I got to the hospital with my baby ( she was 8 months old ) the doctor said she had menengitis and she would’ve been dead had I waited another hour!
Next morning I brought in my uniform, expecting to get canned even though the whole office knew the situation.
The big boss told me ” You’re fired. This is a business, and we have responsibilities towards our clients.”
    I said nothing and left.
I had no words for such a piece of s~~~. After what he’d just said I only wanted to rip his b~~~~ off and stuff them in his mouth!

NO! You don’t know me like I know myself. Had I started beating on him I wouldn’t have stopped until his head was up his ass.
That’s why every time the X got into it with me I’d just put my vest on and walk out, otherwise I’d have a dozen battery charged on me.
Plus we have fast karma in our family. Any motherf~~~er hurt us and they’re quickly sorry or dead, like the investigator who arrested me on false charges without interviewing a single soul, or the bitch who slapped those charges on me. Both died within 3 months of the judge throwing the case out.
I don’t have to SEE if that piece of s~~~ boss got his, I have faith he did.

My friend was the one in the relations~~~. Not me. I don’t know what he told her. But what’s funny is, at one point (she was definitely a hexenbiest) they had a physical altercation (she could be physically and verbally abusive, even to her son) and the cops got called. She threw a phone at him. She jumped on him and to get her off, he kinda body slammed her. Well, during the fight, she had scratched the s~~~ out of him. When the cops came, they put him in cuffs and were gonna arrest him until when he brought up the scratching on his arms, she CONFESSED to the whole thing, including starting the fight. So the cops took the cuffs off him and slapped them on her. It was glorious!

    Newp.
I have only been “fired” by an employer once in my life, and even then they used the caveat of “restructuring” as grounds for my dismissal, despite legitimately being able to terminate my employment for threatening to rip a lazy ham beasts head off and s~~~ down her neck if she didn’t start doing her job according to her contract terms. They terminated her after I brought in proper warehouse staff, then I was let go once the new staff was operating to my liking, so it was appropriate.
I was head hunted and brought in to sort out the clusterf~~~ operation they had, answerable to 1 manager, not constrained by “office politics” or feelings. I completed the mission and promptly moved to another ass hat job, then another, and another until I had enough of it.

There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it

I was running late from school to get to work. I ended up clocking in 7 minutes passed my scheduled time.

Being that I was in a rush to get started on my job, I didn’t realize that I wrote down my actual scheduled time as opposed to the time I clocked in.

The manager (female) suspended me and then fired me over a 7 minute discrepancy. They claimed that I was stealing money.

I could not wrap it around my head at the time that said female boss was threatened by my schooling, being that I was obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in the field we were both working in.

Thankfully, that was 14 years ago, and is now behind me. Quite the red pill to swallow.
