I think the time has come to open real dialogue with mgtow men with sons. You want to protect your son but how with him swimming in toxic waters in universities. Maybe this can stear more young men to entrepreneurship,I can’t imagine walking down the hallways at a campus feeling like it’s death row. What are your thoughts? What are your recommended solutions, because this c~~~ries leadership is not on your side.

Never lose sight of what brought you here.

I know this might sound absurd, but I agree…for the same reasons, but also another.

I’m taking two classes right now. I’m trying to get a decent degree in something relating to working for public office. I dunno why, management of government is one of the most interesting things to me.

However, I feel like I’m never going to get to that point because I can’t get the danged degree. Why? Because of fragging MATH. For most people I know, they can pass it, no problem. They’re onto things like Calculus and Statistics and whatnot. I’m still stuck at College Algebra/Finite Math. I can understand Government/History/Political Science, English, and even natural sciences (I can even grasp the concept of Physics when it doesn’t have to do with math). I have all of those basics down and understood. I’m ready to take those classes…but I’m still lacking that math credit. That ONE math credit I need. I failed College Algebra twice, passed Remedial Algebra (the class that could prep you for College Algebra), but with a D…so it didn’t count. I’m now trying Finite Mathematics, and I can’t memorize the formulas they require me to. When I have the formulas in front of me, it’s NO problem at all. But when I’m on my own, like on a test I was doing last night, I fail. I got a 68 on my first test. I’m already doomed to fail if I don’t pass the final with a 70 or higher!

College is driving me nuts. I have decent work experience behind me and know how to operate MANY office programs, I know how to fix a computer’s hardware and software issues, etc…but because I don’t have that danged piece of paper that costs thousands of dollars to obtain, I can’t make more than $12.47 an hour (I just got a raise to that last week).

Meanwhile, there is a position within my workplace where they need a Computer Coordinator that pays literally $1500 more than I’m making now per month. If I had that, my life would be SET. I already meet the qualifications (thanks to two certificates I got related to computer work)….but I know NOT having the DEGREE is going to harm me. I HATE that!

Universities are hopeless in another way; everyone goes there. Meaning the degrees has lost alot of value; today you need a MSc to do work a BSc used to do 20 years ago, and you pretty much need a BSc to do stuff us older folks could work with after junior high school. The world has gone insane.

I would say the best two bets would be either entrepreneurship if you got some good skills and ideas but not the papers, otherwise a craft isn’t bad; I know cooling technicians that earn more than most academics with qualified jobs.
But of course; if you have a dream of working in a specific area which requires a degree, then you better start swimming, sharks or no sharks…

There are more pressing concerns related to whether or not to attend college than this. I consider it pretty simple to avoid that climate, and getting in trouble. What a guy needs to do is avoid going out to parties and drinking, and any place where things can happen. Also avoid bars and so on, and you should be ok. It is easy to manage, and avoid.

The bigger issue is that college is less and less worth it now. Sure, if you can get into college for free, that is fine. But, students will borrow a ton of money for either worthless courses (and degrees) and also classes that really need internships to show a track record, or you have a hard time.

Combining these two, a student needs to be too busy with academics and working (if possible), to be able to avoid getting into trouble. I know I managed to make money in college renting out my Sega Genesis games through a local video rental store. It paid for laundry during the week. I did keep to myself, and also it was an Engineering school. I didn’t have a car at the time. This way way back when, but I am sure the strategies can be similar now,

It is when you do the student loans, and don’t have relevant industry experience (sufficient amount), that is pretty much a universal problem, even more than this. I will admit, it is difficult to think students will be smart about things.

If I had it all to do over again, I’d go over to tech college and get a degree in HVAC (and I still might, just for fun) I just like everything about furnaces and air conditioning units. I love the ductwork, the propane, the filters, sweat soldering, working in basements, crawlspaces and on roofs …everything. I even like the well equipped little vans that these guys drive with all they need close at hand. …and the pay isn’t shabby either.

I think the time has come to open real dialogue with mgtow men with sons.

Ten years ago was the time. And ten years ago that’s pretty much what happened because that’s when the decline in male enrollment started to really pick up steam.

College these days is largely a waste of time and especially money. That $250,000 liberal arts degree is no different than any of the thousands of other $250,000 liberal arts degrees out there, and won’t sway any hiring department, especially not in the face of whatever government mandated hiring quotas they have to fulfill. There are still some degrees that offer a return on investment, but unless a man really has a vocation and talent for STEM, he’s better off learning a trade or something useful.

Funny how the college degrees that actually matter are still the ones dominated by male enrollment,

Yes! Yes! Blue collar workers in some high skilled fields get paid better than their white collar high school classmates, and they did not rack up a crushing burden of college loan debt to get there.

The guy who fixes the brand new cars at the dealership garage gets paid more than 99% of white collar workers (no kidding). An HVAC man gets paid more than that. Class-A truck drivers’ pay is no slouch either.

It might be the best idea at this point. Colleges favor women now, from what I see it.

In my school, about 80% of the students there (at least in my graduating class) are women. From films to school events and such, it all caters to women. Even manginas are willing to give their past tests to girls they like or are friends with in order to help them pass…..I got depressed since I came to college…

And the scholarships and grants are just so damn s~~~ty too!

I think it’s time to adapt to changing circumstances while holding our ground.

I agree with Richard- keep yourself out of compromising situations. I agree with Sidecar too; learn something useful.

As for the unfair policies, go to a state school; they are much cheaper and are required to let you defend yourself unlike private schools.

Personally, I enjoy learning medicine each and every day. And you cannot get into Med School in the US without undergrad. So for me, undergrad had great merit, despite its downsides.

I also enjoyed comp sci, so if I didn’t want med, I would have used Khanacademy and taught myself programming, comp sci, spent 4 years at the library learning every skill, management, software, and marketed myself like that.

Bottom line is: college is still useful for men- just keep yourself out of troublesome situations and study something useful.

I would send them into services trades/apprenticeships. Many are well paid and the bonus is, you can go and overcharge the t~~~s for your services.

Hmmm… I wonder if you can get ‘harassment insurance’ like malpractise insurance? Then you can tack on the costs and it’s no longer overcharging…

Hey Megachris, you still working on this? I have experience with all kinds of math (physics & computer science in undergrad – admittedly that was a while back!) & maybe more importantly, with problem-solving & teaching across a few spectrums. Can you post or link to some of the challenges you’re having? May be able to help you break them down & relate to things you can easily recall.

I looked into this report when it came out the other day, please let me show you why the results of that survey are what they are – here is the survey’s definition of “Sexual assault” and “sexual misconduct” directly preceding the questions around it:

“Sexual assault” and “sexual misconduct” refer to a range of behaviors that are nonconsensual
or unwanted. These behaviors could include remarks about physical appearance or persistent
    sexual advances.
They also could include threats of force to get someone to engage in sexual
behavior such as nonconsensual or unwanted touching, sexual penetration, oral sex, anal sex or
attempts to engage in these behaviors . These behaviors could be initiated by someone known
or unknown, including someone you are in or have been in a relationship with.
These next questions ask about your perceptions related to the risks of experiencing sexual
    assault or sexual misconduct.”

As I read that, it means that getting a compliment or *gasp* hit on by someone – that the person decides they don’t like – falls under “sexual assault”.
