Sorry for the long ass post but I need to vent something fierce.
Unfortunately I’m not at home or I’d just record a video and put it up. I went over to visit the folks and to take my car in to Les Schwab because the brakes were acting up. Initially they said nothing is wrong, then I find out the rear brakes, at least on one side, are f~~~ed, and I’m out $350 bucks.
Funny enough this isn’t the source of my being p~~~ed off. It’s having to go through the same god damn conversation with my mother that I have almost every time I visit. Nagging about the job I have, that it doesn’t pay a lot, asking me why I’m not more ambitious, etc. Then shaming me with the same line of “well I guess you want to work there forever”. This conversation has gone on for the past fifteen years in some form or another. It always ends with “well I want you to be more independent”. Which may sound kind-heated and what not on the surface, yet it’s coming from a housewife that married someone that made a damn good salary before he retired and she wanted for nothing.
Before the red pill I may have just caved and gone away without saying anything more. But now nobody is given a free pass for their bulls~~~. Not a stranger, not a friend, and not even the person who gave me life. And if that makes me “ungrateful” I don’t give a f~~~.
She tells me to be more independent yet stayed at home while my dad worked for 30+ years and paid for everything. Acts like it is “their” money, because it’s a “partnership”. Bulls~~~. Then she has the b~~~~ to say “I wish your father wasn’t such a pussy and helped you out so much”, as far as finances are concerned. Meaning my living arrangements. My dad bought investment property because his 401k wasn’t doing s~~~, and the property he bought had some old ass double-wide (circa 1983) on it that was basically thrown in for free because it isn’t worthy anything. I live there and since there is no mortgage I just take care of all the other bills. At the same time I’m going to community college, working full time, and making progress towards getting a better job. I’m not just sitting on my ass, doing nothing and getting a government check. So because there technically isn’t rent to be paid, I’m a freeloader in her mind essentially. I pay for all my insurance, my groceries, my car, internet/phone, utilities, etc. I take care of the place, do all the yard work, and anything else my dad needs help with. On top of that I come over to their house, since they are getting up there in age, and help them out as well.
I know damn well why my father wants to help me out if he can. He has three sons, me and my two half-brothers. One of my brothers disowned us because he married a f~~~ing c~~~ who has his b~~~~ in a mason jar up on the mantle-place, and the other doesn’t give a f~~~ about anything but himself. He’s almost 50 and still wants to party it up like he’s still in his 20’s. Can’t go five seconds without a woman, even if most of his relationships end up complete disasters. Me on the other hand, I actually am in regular contact with my father, visit him often, have an actual relationship that has not wavered my entire life. I don’t come begging him for money, in fact I hate every having to bug him if I need a favor because it makes me feel like s~~~.
So I’m sitting here trying to hold my tongue and not unload on my mother, because my stupid car is in the shop until tomorrow. Otherwise I’d just get the hell out of here.
