Can someone please explain and share your thoughts on this new “Brony” trend that seems to be sweeping the nation and now going international.

Today I was doing some early Christmas shopping, because during December I’ll be on a 2 week camping trip with a few buddies, and wont have enough time to get into the holiday rush and be able to grab gifts for family and a few friends. Anyways, I’m in Toys R Us today, I’m looking for some gifts for my niece and nephew. I hit the Boys aisle first, look around for stuff my nephew might like and, BAM, Star Wars galore, My nephew loves Star Wars as do I, grab a gift, next I’m in the girls Aisle looking for something for my Niece, and i see three guys early 20s the size of Line Backers, well over 6foot, giggling and comparing “My Little Pony” Toys and play sets like a bunch of little girls.

I didn’t think much about it, because i thought maybe it was some sort of joke or they wanted to play a prank on a frat buddy, whatever. Then one of the guys says in a pretty serious tone of voice: “Dude, this would go great with my play set, I’m buying these two (names of the characters) plus the Stables!!!! “….That was where the record came to a screeching halt. I could not believe these dudes, who look like College Football players were tickled pink at the fact that My Little Pony just came out with a new Toy line. Completely baffled.

I looked it up on the internet, for a good 3 hours – and found out there is this trend called “Brony”, Men ages 13 to 30 who are obsessed over My little pony. Now listening, to each is own, if that’s your thing, then that’s your thing, but I mean good god, are you f~~~ing kidding me right now?. I’m just curious as to what the rest of you think about this phenomenon, whatever you want to call it.

Here’s an Article written about it as well as a trailer for a documentary about “Brony”

I think it’s important for true freedom and true sovereignty that people are allowed to defy convention.

I think the brony sub-culture was a sort of offshoot from “furry” which got popularity within itself due to a combination of the popularity of adventure time (drawing men of all ages to watch cartoons again) and the my-little-pony cartoon AND the fact that there is so much merchandise for the whole thing. On top of that, in furry you also have an aspect of sexual vindication, acceptance and freedom in a society where sex is still often stigmatized by prudish parents, so “furry” and to a lesser extent MLP, appeals to an irrepressible part of human nature which is shunned by society. If you can get accepted by a group for an attribute which you were previously shunned, that is a very appealing thing. *coughMenAnd MGTOWcough* 😛 though we do have more reasoning and evidence backing up the MGTOW movement than the emotional impulses behind most sub-cultures.

If you want to know more, look at what brony-ism gives men that society does not.

    P.S. I’m not a brony or a furry, I just like weird sub-cultures.

As foreign as a concept that this is to me, I agree with alchemist.

I have a niece 7 years younger than me. I used to mock the f~~~ out of her My Little Pony obsession when they first came out in the mid-80s when I was a teen. I still have the song for the the toys stuck in my head.

I first heard of this earlier this year when a member here mentioned Brony on some thread where I was off on some rant. It was a true WTF moment. Generation gap. They need to make a My Little Pony MGTOW Stallion, I guess.

It was so irritating. “My Little Pony Show Stable……blah. blah. blah”

Imagine being 17 or 18 and hungover as a f~~~ with this on the Saturday morning cartoons every commercial break:

This thread is causing me to experience PTSD symptoms 30 years later.

We had a boy in my neighborhood who used to play with Barbies back in the 70s. We savaged him pretty badly for it.

His younger brother. my friend, was a member of our gang of evil pellet gun toting fire starting cat killing vandals. My friend later became a convicted rapist and his Brother came out of the closet.

This Brony s~~~ makes me realize I’m a fossil. My father would have killed me for wanting My Little Ponys not that I even ever would have considered it as an option.

I wonder if there is a correlation with single mothers? What would John Wayne say about this?

Any MGTOW bronies willing to step into the wood chipper?

Maybe it’s what they do to keep women away from them.

A friend of mine suggested I carry around a Nintendo DS to play when I commute so that women wouldn’t bother me.

He claimed that’s about the only way to keep women from pestering you, make them think they’re too good for you and you’re too childish for them or something.

    Sounds pretty f~~gy to me.

The Children of Doom... Doom's Children. They told my lord the way to the Mountain of Power. They told him to throw down his sword and return to the Earth... Ha! Time enough for the Earth in the grave.

(drawing men of all ages to watch cartoons again)

Remember “Batman The Animated Series” back in the 90s?

I’ll watch “Teen Titans Go!” with my nephews once in a while, Beast Boy has the best one-liners!

@C-Pic, Dolls were f~~~ing stupid! No moving parts! I used to pop Barby’s head off to examine the ball joint, then toss the dismembered body, head, arms, and legs. I never shot a cat, but squirrels, chipmunks, and crows, they’re f~~~ed! none around my house for as long as I’ve been here, especially the crows, they spread the word among many flocks to stay away form that muthaf~~~er! My friend put a cat on spin cycle then let it go, it walked sideways stumbling over it’s self.

MLP may be gay as f~~~, but skip ahead to about 25:20 in the video timeline.

Apparently the producers of MLP are the same producers of Powerpuff Girls. And guess what? They’re actually against this whole s~~~ty PC libtard thing. Just watch the clip.

If Sargon is for it, then so am I. I loves me some Sargon!

Yep, if some male person of the heterosexual or other persuasion wants to collect dolls, then that’s all right with me. If he declares himself MGTOW, that’s all right with me too. Chase your dreams, and devil take the slackers left behind.

So, you think you don’t care what anybody thinks, eh? Well let me tell you something. That guy over there playing with those two My Little Ponies at that picnic table over there in broad daylight? Yeah, him. He’s got over 50 of those in his home. There; now THAT’S a guy who doesn’t care what anybody thinks! LOL

The brony thing has been going on for years. Back then you couldn’t say anything bad about it without stirring up a wasps nest. I’m not sure how it is now…But the whole thing is completely stupid.

C-Pic, Dolls were f~~~ing stupid! No moving parts! I used to pop Barby’s head off to examine the ball joint, then toss the dismembered body, head, arms, and legs…

I did once try to burn a plastic ET toy with hairspray, when I was younger. Didn’t work very well. So I chopped his head off with bolt cutters. That’s the extent of my abuse of toys. Haha.

I don’t get how some guys find playing with dolls to be girly. Hell, a lot of nerds who go MGTOW collect dolls/action figures as a hobby. Plus, if you collect MLP dolls, most women will avoid you. Which is a good thing. I’d rather collect s~~~ like cars though. At least they have more value in them.

    Pabst at age 5.

No s~~~! Me too, 5 years old, It was the bigmouth bottle by Rheingold. check out the c~~~~~~~~~ on this face!>>>>

Crow hunting is very, very tough.

I know, I had to leave a window cracked, and shoot from a darkened room! I got one f~~~er right through the heart! he was the watchman for the other two tearing up the f~~~ing trash! He fell from the power line cold stone DEAD, hit the ground and not even kicking! Another one I winged, that f~~~er sat in a tree in the woods crowing all day, I would have finished him off, but the mosquitoes were to bad.
